I kept the 39/35.....I think it will work well for just about all conditions. It ran some serious numbers on GPS in no time on good ice. That sounds like the blk/red would be a spring I will try instead of the blk/green. I will be using the glide washers as well. Dan didn't you sell your 39/35 helix awhile back? Have you put any miles on the new 37/35 yet? I have the hole shot helix from thunder but was told it may not work so well on the 270 tune. so if I ride tight trails and corner to corner with some straight a ways I should run between 37 to 41?
Just trying the new 37/35 for this season, along with the new(back to stock)gearing. I think for my tight trails it will work well.
Yeah the Hurricane quick spool tunes are animals, nothing like them out there, just look at the proof in dyno sheets. With that much boost coming on 5500rpms, you really need a progressive helix to utilize the power. The big tune can blow right thru a reverse angle. Mine snapped a brand new ultimax instantly. The reverse angle helixs are fine for stock power or whimpy tunes, and can even be used on NON quick spool tunes. But for Hurricane power you want progressive, or at the very least a straight.
My 39/35 was really killer when ran with 270r tune, a total animal corner to corner. 41/35 will work too, but Id use that for abit more open riding, my tight trails are really tight behind my place.
More and more guys liking the 37/35....so I decided to grab that for what my riding is.
Bk/Blue with glide washers works very well, and is most popular trail setup Id say....I just went to bk/red primary to get top rpms down a tad more, and it does seem to work well for me.
Lots to consider always with clutching, weight of rider, type of trails and how hard a guy rides, gearing and track lug height is super important, and track length....mine is a 129 so i may differ from most guys here who run 137s.

Did your secondary have a shim/washer behind it?? Did you have to grind/machine your secondary at all??
No shims , no machining, but did loosen motor mounts to slightly get the clutches misaligned , so under full load be closer to straight , the clutches were not straight stock ....

That's good to know about the quick spool tunes snapping belts with incorrect helix. I run a 137 track with 144 studs. I will try either the 39/35 or 37/35 my ride weight is 225 and I like to ride hard when able. I think you put me on a great starting point with all the testing you have done Dan. I have the newer Dalton blk/org spring which says to wrap 6-2 in which I did and I'm curious to see how that goes. I just got my hurricane muffler and wire harness along with the flash to pass button today but still waiting on the cluster flash and communicator. I cant wait to try this set up but first need to put some miles on the brand new sled before installing it.I kept the 39/35.....I think it will work well for just about all conditions. yeah the cluster flash is coming very soon Ive been told.
I still have my original B/O but Dale sent me updated one and its arriving tomorrow, I did not realize the new B/O has a diff wrap recommendation....Im an old MachZ guy and with the doos we always use a fish scale to check backpressure tension, While the Doos are generally set to 16lbs avg, my orig B/O at 6/1 avrg 14lbs. And that seemed to work well. So ill check this new version, but sounds like Dale made a change.
So you went with both the cluster flash and also the flasher? I will have both too, but just cause in season two and already had flasher. LOL

With all things being equal what would I do to change the clutching to a 310lb person.

Depends on power range.....but one the best things IMO would be to gear down to Cat like gearing, which alone will help many things. With all things being equal what would I do to change the clutching to a 310lb person.

Dan I forgot to ask you about your clutches and did you have the pocket machined to prevent coil bind. Would the Dalton spring be shorter than stock to prevent bind. I was just wondering if I need to do this if I got a new helix for I am hoping the pocket would be deeper in that so I could avoid another trip to machinistDepends on power range.....but one the best things IMO would be to gear down to Cat like gearing, which alone will help many things.

Not needed.....Dalton springs are designed to not coil bind. Even with stock helix. I think that in '17 early on, this was something that got overblown personally.

Mine is being sent back, Dale prefers to have all of them out of the public to avoid issues or confusion, a very heads up thing to do IMO.How were you able to keep the original B/O spring.
