idea on the rear tail lamp, get a thin led lamp, remove the rear reflector on the tunnel cap and install it there. out of the way and visable. ski

That's what I plan to do using this light http://www.slp.cc/catalog.cfm?pageID=de ... ductID=531

Me too!

I started the project tonight. I will post pics once complete. I am using the Craigger Built system from from old sled like spray25....awesome design.

Unlike spray, I'm removing the tail light and mounting an LED on the rear were there reflector was located.

My plan is to do that too. I am turning it front to back nad moving it over so I can have a bag too. In the pics it is just setting there cause I don't want to bolt it down until the bag and light are here.

Mounting the new LED in place of the reflector seems like a good location but, the LED's don't make much heat and because of the snow that will collect above the snowflap I would think it would become invisable in a short while.

Here's mine. I used the Craiggerbuilt system from my old sled. It works awesome cuz you can remove the tank in a second. What do guys you think?

Yellowknife inspired me to look closer at the stock tail light. I am now going to relocate it in a similar way to what he did. That saves some $$$.

I finaly got around to mounting my bag and gas can. I was able to re-use the OEM light and kept the wires out of the tunnel.

looks good. after riding all week in togwotee with our cans i dont think we will have any fire issues either.

we had snow caked on the tanks all week. the first 3 days i never put fuel in the can for worrying about the yamaha bulletin. but after seeing how much snow and ice was around the cans we put fuel in them. they still had snow and ice build up every day.

i did put heat reflective tape on the whole front of the can for precautionary measures. but again the cans are just caked with snow in the powder. even long trail runs back to the lodge wouldnt heat the cans enough to melt the snow on the reflective tape.

the big bonus, i can have 11 gallons at my disposal, v.s the 7.4 in the tank alone.

merry xmas to all. ski

FYI the holes left by removing the rear reflector line up perfectly with the tail light. I did extend the wires. I put heat shrink on them and secured them with zip ties that are under the edge of the craigger built bracket. The tail light is at a bit of an angle but you can see it just fine and it kept me from having to buy a new light.

I know this is an old topic, but the rack and exhaust turnout appear to be on back order from Yamaha and the after market 40 litre tank won't be available until February at the earliest.

So I've ordered a tour buddy.

Does anyone have experience with the tour buddy on a Nytro? I'm looking for information on how hard installation will be or if I should have my dealer install it.

Once installed and after the exhaust turnouts are available again, I hope to be able to put a small rack behind the tour buddy, after I relocate the rear tail light.

Any information would be great.

I have been running the above setup for sometime with good luck using the Yamaha turn out. I installed the same setup on the wife's sled using the Craigger turn-out and it does not turn out far enough. It melted her bag!!

I just got back from a testing trip.

I have stock exhaust and no turn out. (They are currently are on hold due to possible fire issues)

I installed the Ski-Doo can like skidooboy, but I removed my stock taillight and mounted it back as far rear on the tunnel as I could.

I took it out for about 42 miles with a combo of long trail runs and deep powder.

I have no issues with the can melting. It never felt warm and after the whole day looked still brand new.

So it should be good to carry fuel. Plus when I get the Excell exhaust it should be even less of a problem as the Excell points higher in the air and will just go directly over the can.
