New '11 Apex sneek peek!

Are you guys kidding about the power steering ? That was the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Complicated system that adds weight. If you need power steering on a sled maybe you should stay at home and surf TY. I hope Yamah reads this before it goes to production. We don't need a Homer Simpson snowmobile !!! LOL

It's definitely an Apex motor, you can see the double exhaust, low seat, wide front end.

The exhaust is tigher inward, meaning they redesigned the exhaust, obviously to save weight.

The tunnel sticks out a bit, i'd say it's a 144 track.

You can see the heat exchangers under the tunnel like the current Apex. The only reason it would need those is if it was a 4 cylinder.

Riser looks like a mountain riser, but the skis look narrow, which doesn't match with any of the current models.

My best guess is that we are looking at a lighter weight 144" Apex XTX.

Mark

does not look like xtx cause track is not "tipped up" off trailer in pic IMO ....

I think that one on trailer is a 136 mono 2 skid

thinking a narrower seat,to fit those inward exhaust outlets.....

it sounds identical to the nytro.

I think it sound exactly like a apex motor...NOTHING like a nytro.

also,it has dual exhaust outlets,no 2 or 3 cyl motors have them, only the 4 cylinder....another clue that it is a 4 cyl IMO.

Dan

Doesn't the Vector have dual outlets?? Mine does, I can't have the only one,lol

No way is it a cross plane motor. It is definitely a four holer. I agree it will probably be under 170 hp based on rpm drop from bike application. over 170 if they have contracted the Power block clutch, then the sky is the limit on rpm's. If they can spool that up to the 13,000 like on the street I believe they are making 180 ish.

I love this waiting game.... LOL

I've never heard so many different speculations as with this sled. Keep'em coming. I'm sure Chris Reid are chuckeling behind his computer reading all this, knowing the answer. ;)! I think he should have made a sneak-preview of the front bumper, front suspension, or a small part of the cowling. Or maybe of the headlights in the dark. That's what I would like to see now...

You ever use power steering on an ATV, it's the best thing since slice bread.

damn im stupid...lol...you are right!

i was thinking of the nytro and phazer with the single outlet, never even thought about the vector...lol

I dont know how you guys think its a 136 or a 144 .. its a 121 . the short track apex looks too flat of the back . the exhuast tips are right in line with the tunnel . but im guessing that its a shorter seat . so the end dont look so sawed off . im glad yamaha done this . its gonna look much better .. but its a 1.25 track , rip saw . but its a 121

It's still a 4 cylinder... MY XTX idles rough (Varying RPM) right off the start. My Apex never did that (very smooth) cold or hot. That video sounds like a 4 cylinder.

do you regret selling your apex?

It has remote start!!

You know...I thought the same thing, and even posted on you tube asking Chris, but I don't think it does because if you listen to the video, you can hear someone click the key on, then you hear the sled start...so I think the video was edited to take out whoever was starting it and they wanted us to hear it fire up for the effect of the video...

JMO..

looking at the pic I would guess they found some weight savings,
As for the engine can't help but think that the same plasma fused engine block and varible valve timing technology from the new 4 stroke v-max sho 250hp found it's way into the sled, whatever it is it better have good handwarmers
