New sled!

You really are asking the pimp about his girl! In all honesty, i wish i spent more time riding mine with fewer mods because the more you mod the less you ride. I know that is not the popular answer, but it's plenty of power out of the box and for a noob, myself included, clutching takes time to understand and even more time to perfect. Not to mention, this sh!t isn't cheap!
The common responses for quick bolt on's ...Skis, axle etc. are good advice. Just think twice before jumping all in because like OCD mentioned....Boost is CRACK! Mod all you want when the thrill is gone.

You can't be a VIP yet!
We have to HAZE you first.
I'll start.
First of all you've been out for 10 years . You're like Han Solo coming out of Cryogenic freeze. You are rusty Han.
Secondly, you don't even know MrSled's first name which can take years to learn.
Thirdly, you have to read all ROCKERDAN's posts & awesome pics with videos.

Then & only then will you be a full fledged TY Jedi....................in 3 years

Well it's official, the new sled is gonna be a 2018 L-TX LE instead. Signed my life away, delivery next weekend. Only prob is it's 9 hours away lol... What do they say, in for a penny, in for a whole shebang? Truth is that this sled was my favorite anyways. Bad to the bone.

Great choice!! Comes with the best shocks and don't forget the vented brake disc and heated seat that doesn't come with the SE. Where did you score this gem from and what did you get it for if you don't mind me asking? Where did you have the SE lined up at? Weavers?

Fellow WNY'er here as well. You will love the ltx le, glad to hear you found one. I spend a lot of my time in tug hill and old forge during winter riding and the LE shock package is a massive benefit up there compared to the se models. Tug hill weekends can be unforgiving on even the best shocks but I've had no issue being and to ride with all the xrs and x package 800 and 850 doos in the group.
You'll be amazed at how simple things like clutching and skis can change the sled. And obviously tuning ! Stock skis can "get the job done" but anyone that's ran the sled back to back with different skis would be hard pressed to try and say the stock tuners should ever be considered "good"

Great choice....SE shocks would not have fared well on the hill...lol

I know you wanted a winder but my dealer has a few leftover cat 998s for alot cheaper im guessing, and with those you wont need 3 or 4 spare belts..lol

Nothing as sexy as the blue though!

I was gonna get an X 850, I know Sunday whoops up there well, but I just want reliability right now.

No I know what you mean, that's good advice. But I'm gonna have that thing just sittin, staring at me in the garage, for a few months while I wait for snow. Gonna have to do some kinda wrenching right? haha. Well it depends on the wrenching, after the 6th outboard jug/piston on that Mach Z, that ain't the fun kinda wrenching. The other thing is I pretty ride hard and usually come into turns hot, I'm gonna probably throw 144 gold diggers up the middle, I gotta be able to stop quick. Then, regardless I'm gonna have to upgrade the tuner carbides to 8", so then why not get the bigger 6.9's? That was my thought process.

I was actually contemplating selling the new 1.25 Ripsaw II it comes with on ebay and upgrading to a 1.5 Ripsaw II. Then throwing on 1.8 studs. That 1.5 Rip 2 looks awesome but I'm not sure if I should do it.

Man, so everybody would toss that tri axle right off the bat?

4th wheel kits are an insurance policy. On a new sled i would not be concerned with replacing right away.

Tuners work well in trails that are set up. Its loose snow where they tend to go south.

Dont get all bent out of shape over shocks either. My father and i both felt my dx shocks had a nicer overall ride than his qs3.

As others suggested, Get some seat time first. The motor will for sure keep you contrnt for awhile!

My advice- (And I love tuning and mods just as much as the next guy).

1. Pray for snow
2. Enjoy the time away from work and the responsibilities of life
3. Soak up the time with your friends on the trail and take in the small stuff
4. Take in the adrenaline rush and appreciate what you have, even if every single mod everyone else has done isn't on yours.
5. You're riding a Yamaha! Run it and enjoy!!!!!!!

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the belt adjustment kit! Makes changing the belt a heck of a lot easier.

Steve beat me once again.....the Jap throttle mod was ESSENTIAL on my sled. Thumb warmer just didn't cut it.

The belly pan protector, and skid plate allow me to worry less.

LED hand guards are awesome and at times, really help at night.

Funny story about my first time to WNY to sled. 2 years ago, I think it was literally the first SW in the andarondacks (sp?) I never get the right spelling. Freaking OSP adjuster was junk and everywhere we rode...the belt would squeal non stop. Locals would stop talking as we'd ride up to them and turn and stare. I don't know if it was the SW or the screaming cat dying sound from the sled! So embarrassing. Switched to Thunder Products adjuster....and always perfect.

Welcome Mogul!! So you backed out of the SE deal lol, and got yourself an LE instead. Great move imo! I mean, if you’re spending this much for a sled...might as well go the LIL bit extra and get the top of the line shocks, and package.

You’re gonna love it!!

I love my 18 50th RTX LE 129. Kept mine stock tune...but changed the skis to the pilots(5.9) with 8 inch carbide center, and 6 inch outer; put the J&T Stealth(rear axle) big wheel kit in mine, 180(same as 192 on the 137 length tracks) 1450” Megabite studs with aluminum backers, stock primary clutch set up, but Dalton reverse 33/35 helix, and black/orange dalton secondary spring, with TD Heavy Duty secondary rollers. LED Powermadd Sentinel Handguards(they look fabulous on The winders), Barn of Parts Belly pan protector; oh and, YAMAHA Knee pads on the cowling/Side-panels. Oh and also...if you stud it, you gotta buy the tunnel protectors for the rear(they don’t come stock).

And give it at least 1000-1200 miles to break in and loosen up....I put 1361 miles on mine last season(wish I could have put more but work gets in the way lol), and it got faster and better with every mile.

Good buddy of mine got back into the sport last year after a 14 year Hiatus, and bought the 18 Gen 4 850 Ski-DOO. It’s a beautiful sled...and it’s light as a feather, with Great Snap and handling that’s for sure. But an entirely different beast than The winder. He loves it...and it is very impressive. But I’m very happy with my winder...and didn’t see myself going back to a two stroke after being on an Apex for 9 years. Imo the winder is a very sophisticated piece of machinery...cutting edge in every way/aspect. That 998 turbo motor is a masterpiece plain and simple!!

You’ll be thrilled with it!!

Well I did it, in the end I went green... The clutch/belt issues made me consider Cats, and then when I looked into it, the RR is a great looking sled. Huge thanks to the guys here on the forum for all the advice!

Good deal. In the end they are so close it comes down to clutches and color preference. Where did you end up getting it from and what did you end up paying?

You got yourself a bad azz sled there..... Don't be surprised is it rides a tad stiff. The RR is a big bump rig so be prepared to run those shocks on lowest setting.

On clutching for the Cat Ron Ward has the best kit out there and its much improved over stock.

Throw a tune bundle in that bad boy and let it eat. That will be bad fast.......
