What we learned from the cat turbos... Dead nuts on the big three wouldn't stop a big horsepower belt blower.... Only one thing did... Does

Is it better now at 59?Mine was 61mm offset with no washer.
After machining and testing 59mm now.
I'm now at 58.7 with a .9mm washer

Hi did you check first with our new gauge from hurricane? And after check need to have shaft go further in to bearing? When you had the go gauge sliding between bottom of inner sheeve and alignment bar, about how much distance did figure you had to remove off shaft? So w/out washer you would have been 59.6I'm now at 58.7 with a .9mm washer

I removed 3mm from my clutch shaft
3mm is the perfect amt to remove of hub IMO. I did more and had shims made, which worked well for me.
I can set mine to 58.4 or 58.9 using my 1mm or 1.5mm custom shim.
So I put mine all back together and I decided to go with the 58.9mm offset. I checked it all over and it seems to sit pretty straight in there. Whether I measure at front of secondary or rear.
Also, with my BOP adjuster I had to remove some washers(had 4 washer from Travis) I ended up removing 2, and using 1 between adjuster and stock plug, and installed the other washer underneath the main bolt head, so its between the bolt head and the ultra large stock washer which is against the BOP adjuster, it all went in perfectly.

Yes 3mm is what I plan on for removal to,and have a 2mm shim and 1mm shim in case like Dan stated, wanted to add some back on,now my belt adjuster not sure what to do about that. My adjuster is TP I have no washers, but would I remove material from its end?I removed 3mm from my clutch shaft
If you have no adjustment left, yes material removal is necessary.Yes 3mm is what I plan on for removal to,and have a 2mm shim and 1mm shim in case like Dan stated, wanted to add some back on,now my belt adjuster not sure what to do about that. Rather than remove material on my stock adjuster I put it in the press and cupped the large washer, worked well.

OK thanks, once I do the mod,if I don't have any more belt adjustment I will remove material. So I take it you are using stock adjuster, with washers? If you have no adjustment left, yes material removal is necessary.

What is the verdict on this subject - 58mm or 61mm?

by my measurements 59.25mm, but there are variations in everything. What is the verdict on this subject - 58mm or 61mm?
I have measured a few clutch hubs and they vary by 1mm so far.

Thanks for doing that powrhaulic, that does seem like a lot, considering how accurate machining today is,at least where I just retired from,in our CNC world 1mm or .0396 thou is a lot of tolerance, most of our rough finished products had a plus .005 or minus .005 and final finished much lower .0001 tenth or less. And for the money we are now paying for these play toys, its hard to believe there are still so much stack tolerance today.by my measurements 59.25mm, but there are variations in everything.

I would think 59mm is a good avrg to aim for.
Hoping to get some miles on mine in Qc next weekend if all goes well.....Im hoping for a nice trip with NO issues and no blow belts...lol

I'm heading out for a rip later this aft and taking my temperatue gun along. I'm running pretty tall gearing with 192 1.625 Lake Racers. I'll take some readings from steady-state cruise as well as WFO.
