Little windstorm in Syracuse caused a 24" old growth maple to fall into a 9" young locust, which had to of course fall right on to the sled. Months of work, never hit the snow, and now it has some pretty good tweaks in the tunnel and the front end. Steering column is bent, riders hammered into the tank which i think is cracked, all the front plastics have cracks and stress marks, every push rivet under the cowl for the headlight broke. Even with all the load off it it tilts to the left pretty bad and the trailer rests the deck right on the tires (think the torsion system is busted).
Insurance asks immediately:
"Were you in motion?"
"No, it was sitting on its trailer in the yard"
"Oh then that's different, you're going to need to claim against your homeowners"
"It was at a friends shop, your saying I need to file against his homeowners and lose a friend?"
"Well that's how it goes"
Thanks

Oh man, I feel so bad for you. I know how it feels, I had a tree fall on my cabin and shed last year.

That just sucks. Winter has been very bad to us this year in CNY. We lost power and had 50-60 mph winds last night in the Cato area but nothing like that. Hope you guys can work things out.

Dude that really sucks. Those damn insurance company's are glad to take your money, but they don't want to hold up their end. They want to pass the buck and your stuck in the middle. I hope you can get a quick turn around so you can ride when we do get snow.

Call your insurance company, ask them for a detailed copy of your policy and casually tell them you will be talking to your lawyer. It may help them see things your way. You have a policy on your sled and your trailer? In Canada it is up to your insurance to go after your friends insurance company.

Yeah, the conversation was had with the national claims center in WA. My agent called me this afternoon and asks why I didn't call him directly, I tried but they have that auto attendent and I thought the woman I was speaking with was local. He then proceeds to give me a direct number he never disclosed before. Said he would try and work on it but now that national was involved it was going to be much harder. My adjuster is due to come from VA to NY next friday. What a joke, have to wait almost 2 weeks and I can't touch anything, just get the weight off the sled and wait for them to show up.

Send me a message if you need help with your claim. I live in your area, and was an adjuster for many years. Most of what you have been told so far is BS.

Insurance is all a scam! I had a lifted truck that got damaged very badly in winter storage inside my uncles warehouse and I had put the insurance down to just comprehensive since it was just sitting and not being used. When I tried to make a claim they told me that mine was "collision" and not covered under comprehensive. I was soooooooo pissed. The truck was in storage NOT being driven. What a joke these jack #*$&@ insurance companies are. I NEVER make claims for anything but when I needed it I was basically told I was SOL....Very very frustrating. I hope yours goes better than mine did. Sorry to hear about this. Good luck with the claim.

That's tough......... This makes me wonder if my two Harley's stored in a friends shop would be covered if there was an incident. I guess I should be safe and check into it.
Hopefully thing will work out.
