OSP SR Viper belt adjuster with float

You did if you want full adjustment for deflection/belt wear.

Correct ...if you run a belt that far to wear it out. I don't like to run a belt that gets that beat up to be out of specs, but understand some people do like to run a belt until they have to change it.

Don't forget belt variance. Not everyone could even get proper deflection with 8dn and no machining. It's personal preference but I like running as little deflection as possible without sled creeping or squealing.

What actually gets machined on the secondary and how long does it take?

Some vendors are machining the spring pocket in clutch or helix to be able to run the stock pink spring without binding And they are machining the area the 8mm screws come in contact with. This machinings allows the sheaves to come closer together if needed for proper belt deflection. The OSP adjuster with plate removed accomplishes the same thing as machining the screw contact area. There are springs out there that do not bind like stock pink one. Ulmer sells one now as part of his clutch kit.

Anybody having an issue with there secondary not closing all the way? I just put on this new OSP part on my 2015 viper clutch but it won't close all the way so it's hard to adjust for deflection. I'm basically just guessing. I think maybe because the sled is brand new as well as a brand new 8dn on there is why I'm having this issue, likely just need to put some miles on. I know it's not the OSP adjuster as I was having the same issue when I was using the washers on the 3 bolts. My 2014 viper is working perfect with this adjuster so I know it's not me doing anything wrong but my 2014 has a Ulmer clutch kit in it and a very stiff secondary spring so it has no problem closing right up . FYI the clutch was set to 6&1 stock, not sure if that's where it's supposed to be or not but I put it back in that position.

I have the same issue with my apex. Apex runs a very soft secondary spring. I just grab the belt on the bottom and try to rotate it counterclockwise on the clutches while using the other hand to turn the inner face of the secondary counterclockwise? I think thats right but it's straight forward when your doing it yourself. That should close the secondary so you can set the deflection. I set them as tight as I can without the belt squeeling in the primary at idle.

Funny that you say that as that is exactly what I did for now to get any sort of adjustment. Lol
