The SHIM(thicker) goes rearward.They are 6” shapers.
The way the bumpers are orientated now, the “shim” as it were is toward the back of the sled which would make sense why they are forward bias, correct?
If I turn them around, they should tip upward in theory
I would not run 6" if they dont have any pads near front bend, the heavy sled will still wear enough at front without a pad at the bend.

Well there goes my theory, that’s how I have them. Thicker part rearward

The shaper 7.5" for pilots is a full length carbide, which is why I run the doo or woodys , they are full length with a carbide pad at bend. Helps to wear better even with the shim properly installed.

Well I hope others with miles will chime in because it seems I have the rubber saddles modified and installed how you instructed.
Not sure how to explain all the carbide wear on the front

Scratch that.....I believe it is the carbide placement on the shaper, nothing up at the bend.

Thanks Dan, I’ll have to look into some solutions to the the ski tips upwards. Clearly quite a bit more than what I have!

Man those pics are not very hi res..lol
Is there NO pad at the bend? It just looks like those are begging to wear at front from the carbide location.
See how the woodys cutting carbide goes to the front stud, and then there are wear pads in front of bend, same as your doo outers have.

I have the 7.5 shapers on mine Dan and there is a carbide wear pad at the front bend. I just checked them out tonight and there is absolutely no wear at all on them. All the carbide and the wear pads are intact after 1500 miles. They look as good as new.Scratch that.....I believe it is the carbide placement on the shaper, nothing up at the bend.

I can’t upload the photo from my iPhone because it gives me an error saying it’s too big. I have to take a screen shot of it. That’s the only way it works! I see what you mean about having no carbide close to the bend. I thought 6” shaper and 4” doo outer was common.

Dan I had those woody carbides on one of my 1200's and they don't have carbide wear pads up front. They have hard weld that doesn't hold up well. The Doo carbides have the carbide wear pads and so do the shaper bars and they hold up great.

I love the 7.5 shaper as its full length on the pilot design.I have the 7.5 shapers on mine Dan and there is a carbide wear pad at the front bend. I really think the 6'' shaper without any toward front begs to be more biased downward, and the rubber shim cant compete with the heavy nose sled.

Actually on these sleds they beg for most carbide as they have nice light effort compared to doo.I can’t upload the photo from my iPhone because it gives me an error saying it’s too big. I love the BRP extreme most, with all those pads up front, but they only come in 5" now, but still have the 3 pads in front, still love those for 60 bucks or so only.Dan I had those woody carbides on one of my 1200's and they don't have carbide wear pads up front. They have hard weld that doesn't hold up well. The Doo carbides have the carbide wear pads and so do the shaper bars and they hold up great.
I have not seen any of mine wear up front due to shimming, so I have not had any issues but these ones are badly worn as shown in his pics.
