I ordered the Sidewinder L-TX LE in RED. I love the look but just now noticed that some of the prototype units are red and some are white. It's the vented piece just under the word TURBO. Anyone know which color is the final. I vote for the red panel.

I only see white , as it looks like it is all part of the removable hood.
I am going to get white side panels , instead of red , just to be different .
And white wheels , and white belly pan protector , and white skies with red handles , and a red snow flap.

I'm not a big fan of all of the white on this model myself, especially on the rails and spindles. Will be easy to see dings and scratches. Out of all of the color options though, I still liked it the most. Hopefully, there will be enough colored accessories to individualize it for us.

Totally love the red/white but agree that the spindles/a arms/rails and other chassis/suspension parts should be black.

We won't know for sure until the production models are built and start arriving at dealerships. My guess is the piece that you're referring to is actually part of the hood assembly and will be white as the rest of the hood on the SW LTX-LE red/white model. I've seen pictures of the sled on various websites that show that part of the hood both red and white as you mentioned, but the red/white SideWinders that I saw at the Sneak Peak in MN all had all white hoods on them and the pictures on the Yamaha website also shows the hood assembly as white.
I've got the same sled ordered as you do and I'm partial to the all white hood with the red and black graphics. The red/white models that I saw at the Sneak Peak also had raw aluminum rails that were not colored white. It should be interesting to see what the production models will look like.

I have never owned a blue Yamaha sled !We won't know for sure until the production models are built and start arriving at dealerships. that being said , I ordered the SW in red and white , and plan on changing the red side panels to white .
I will probably cancel my order , if there is raw aluminum, instead of white or red , on the production LTX LE.
This sled is all about the look ! , and then the awesome pretty shock package !
By the way , what engine is in the SW ?

Piggybacking what VX1R said, you dont know what you are going to get, till it shows up. I have living proof of this sitting in the rod shop, the NEW 2016 mystery engine.

some parts of my post / reply are truth , and some are fiction !Your kidding- Right?
this part about the engine , was inserted to help embellish the fiction part , to try and create response like yours , thank you, as activity on the forum is waning , and it is a long off season !!
but truth is I really like the red/white combination , and the shocks coming on the LTX LE .

I sure hope the production sled is the same hp (or more for that matter. ) The only thing I didn't care for on the protos I saw (and heard) was they were a little too quiet. Actually, the '17 Viper they had there sounded better. Might have been due to more mileage on sled and closer to broken in, though.

I have seen others also saying it is too quiet , which is very surprising .
I have ridden an Apex for the last 10 years , and I know it has contributed to me slowly going deaf .
Atleast if it is too quiet , then you can go aftermarket and change it a little , and gain some more power.
I want to wait and hear how it sounds at 100 mph .
As it may sound more like a turbine engine !
I don't like the Viper sound at all , and much preferred the Nytro in comparison , but really like the Apex , minus the intermittent drone , which I believe was a way of telling you to go faster !!

I have to admit that I did not trade or sell my apex yet because of this. I'm too afraid of missing the 4 cyl sound and feel. One of the SWs they ran while hoisted on stand read 100 mph on the speedo when they cracked the throttle. Can't believe they revved it that much. It sounded nice, but not what I would've expected. Who knows once on the trail and broken in, though. Like you said, you can always add something down the road. I'm playing it safe though, as I want to keep the extended warranty valid.I have seen others also saying it is too quiet , which is very surprising .

I am going all out in the sled department , as I may not have many years left to sled .
I will wait till next year , ride them both and then decide what to do .
I would love to ride twice as much , on twice as many sleds !
