Well, I´m back . We had really great time again. Only downside was that yesterday I noticed that I´ve cracked a rail on my sled.

Theese MONO-suspensions are really a waste of space. I don´t abuse my sled. I just ride it without bottoming it out, gently and some might say, slowly. BUT still this suspension keeps breaking down. Bad desingn IMO.

DAY 1 snowmobile adventure 2011

We did 160 km on the first day. Awesome weather and snow! - 5c hole day and sunshine! Could not be better. Juhana ( my friend on the 600 E-TEC RE Lynx ) was riding with me. Here he is buying a trail permit with his mobile. He is listening to the recorded advise how to get it paid by textmessage.

This is me after the first 60 km on our annual adventure. We stopped for a short break on a small village shop/gas station on our way to Savukoski.

This year´s trip was basicly planned just like the 2010 trip. Only small changes on routes.

DAY 2 snowmobile adventure 2011

After getting breakfast and fuel filled up early in the morning, we met the rest of our group at a local ATV / Sled shop. Tero`s Vector RS Mountain was there on a oil change.

My breakfast. I know, I eat alot. I´m a big guy...

Kelkkareissu2011015.jpg

After we dropped some backpacks and stuff to Risto´s ( the 4th guy) cottage, we thought that a some deep snow riding would be great. On the back woods of Risto´s cottage we found some great riding and getting stuck (mainly by me). Risto rode his ´07 Phazer Mountain

That was really sweaty stuff. So, after 3 hours, we headed back tp the cottage to get some lunch. After lunch we headed for our accommodition at Naruska. Day 2 was compleate after 160 km´s trough non-groomed trails. Great day and best way to end it was at sauna, and have few beers and a cider, or two.

DAY 3 snowmobile adventure 2011

After some great breakfast we headed out on trails. No traffic at all. And no groomed trails. Weather made a turn and heavy wet snow was the deal on this day.

Risto found some odd tree and decided that Phazer can be a chainsaw, not. No harm done there, lucky guy.

No groomers in sight.

A view from top of Sorsafjell. We have been there several times before too.

After visiting Sorsa, we headed to Tulppio for the next night. Here is a pic of an reindeerfence overcrossing. There were few of them on this trail.

Kelkkareissu2011030.jpg

5 km to Tulppio. Ahh, sauna and late dinner. 174 km´s on that day. Weather did not bother us at all. Great time and great trails with your best friends. Nothing is better than that IMO.

DAY 4 snowmobile adventure 2011

Last day. Bummer. The ride home. Risto and Tero companied us to Savukoski (first 100 km´s). There we had lunch together. Great stories again! 13th year with this group. What a great bunch of guys!

Juhana and I continued our way to Sodankylä to my place. 220 km´s of riding on that day. Weather was warm and snow was getting really slushy and wet. Trails did hold up though.

Final odo. Now my Warrior is ready to be repaired. Damn skid. That thing just is weak.

Well. time for a oil change, exhaust donuts (didn´t change them last summer, stupid me) and service the shocks and repair that rail. Too bad, since I could be riding for atleast 3 weeks or more... I did get the old Vmax out and I ripped trough the yard few times with it. I know I can trust that sled LOL!

weather : +7c
mileage Vmax4: 3 km
Rx1 Warrior: 962,5 km
total mileage : 965,5 km

where do you get the big snow shoes for the ski's never seen those before.

http://www.teolehtimaki.fi/files/Muovit.pdf

A finnish invention. I need those kind of ski skins since I use my sled in work too. Help alot when going over fallen trees etc in woods where you can´t throttle out / over things so easily.

Ike

do they work good on the trail or just off trail use. try to look them up but i can only read english problem.what are the cost. how hard are they to remove.

I would recommend them off trail use only. They make the steering to push in the corners since the ski goes in the turn on it´s side more with the wide ski skin. The runner looses contact with the snow easier. BUT that can be avoided but adding a strip of plastic between the ski skin and runner.

They cost about 70 € a pair.

Skins are bolted in the ski with the runner. I also added a small bolt in ther front of the ski, just under the ski handle.

Ike

some times we run in the lake effect snow's and they look like they would work good for that. i bet they would work good for the mountain guy's. the shipping cost would be more than those things are worth coming from finland.
