I took today off from work. Needed some freetime. Too much work lately...

So, I fueled up and went to Luosto. That is a skiresort about 70 km´s by trail from my house. Trails weren´t groomed but lots of soft snow and great views.

I got stuck too, twice actually today. First time was at a bridge. I steered away from some reindeers and got stuck against the railing on bridge. It was tough task to get it out since my sled was pretty much vertical. Luckily I got help from other snowmobilers. Second time was at my house. My second oldest son wanted to go riding with me so went and when came back I was too careful and didn´t throtlle enough. So the result was this--->

Is your season at an end then? You could always rent a oiltanker and come across the Atlantic to get some snow...

We here in the Ottawa, Ontario Canada area have been out of snow since the begining of March...they said on the news tonight it was the MILDEST winter since keeping records back in the 40's... Forecast is RAIN for the weekend 10c and mid next week as high as 13c... :exc: so thats it for me I threw the rag in and sold my sled and shopping for a 4 wheeler!

We had a really busy weekend. My broher raced in the Arctic Cat GIANT snowmobile endurace race. He placed second in the amateur C2 class! Race is over 500 km´s in 2 days. 8 special stages. This years race was 20th overall. Few americans (Paul Mack, Kirk Hibbert etc) have tried to win that race over the years, but locals have always been faster. Conditions were hard on the racers: deep snow, narrow trails and long days.

Also my cousin got married, so we were at the party.

Today I rode some km´s with my 9 and 6 year old boys. We took some scenery shots from the setting sun. Pics were taken 5 pm today, so daylight is getting longer and longer. Soon the sun won´t go under the horizon at all.

Notice the hole in the ice. Surrounded with those orange cones. A pump keeps the water moving and so it won´t get iced over. That is a sauna on the lake shore. People here go swimming from the sauna to the lake in the winter. It´s actually fun!

5-6 months. About 4-5 months are with rideable snow. But you have to remember that we have the arctic night here and cold temps in the middle of the winter.


I went for a short spin roubd the town yesterday, Aweome weather!

Last sunday our club held a car race on the local river / resevoir. Cars were older "fun racers", like Peugeot Mi16, BMW 3-Series cars, Ford Sierra´s, Saab 900 turbo´s etc.

I was there with my 6-year old son. We followed the racing and rode around the river and trails.

Today I was out working. We were checking out forests and winter roads over the peatlands.

Weather was awesome, even though we had -23c in the morning. It warmed up pretty good in the afternoon. Best time of the year IMO.

On the 26th I rode around our town with my 6 year old. My oldest son was at his friend´s birhtday party, so I had to think someting to keep my younger son happy.

Great weather and first smooth trails for me this season. Groomer was driving around the trails!!
