How does the tuned 900 turbo compare to a stock sidewinder for mid range and top end and ride?
Yes I've ran a xrs and rev 900t also a 850
I never ran a stock 900t!
The xrs had the 205hp hurricane tune.
The rev had 195 hp hurricane tune
The 850 stock with Cudney clutch setup
The 900t has great throttle response and pulls hard to 100mph I struggled in the corner with both they both had ski lift and would push in the corner but I think proper ski/carbides and suspension set would cure this! They do feel lighter the my 998 but I prefer the 998 I feel way more confident in the corners!!
The 850 I tried did not impress me !! This may sound funny but I found it too light in the corner..lol it would push like crazy and felt very tippy..imo
I found the 850 just revs loud when hammering the throttle and doesn't accelerate enough for me..
My wife's zr6000 (129 track) (purple and green in pic)is a fun sled I think it would be a riot with the 800 motor!I could really make this sled dance corner to corner with the 129 track! Honestly prefer our chassis over a doo but I been riding this chassis since 2014 so I know what to expect in the corners
If I were to buy a 2 stroke it would be our chassis with a 800 motor in it

I was going to ride my winder this weekend, and to bring a pal along I lent him my na nytro xtx. I made it 5 miles before my Virus broke down again (this time was kinda my fault) so I rode my wife's second sled 2011 600 136 Switchback. Kinda lame. She graciously traded me for her 2016 600 Pro S Switchback. Very nice trail sled. And buddy who has 3 Ski doos down, says he wants a Nytro now.

I never compared a stock winder! I actually never even tried a stock winder..lolHow does the tuned 900 turbo compare to a stock sidewinder for mid range and top end?
I think the 205hp hurricane tune set up will give a stock winder a run for it's $
Here is a live data screenshot of one of my customers with the 205hp tune clutched and geared. I beleive the speedo is around 8 km/h high on the doo's

Marc, thanks for the additional info. You wouldn't happen to have the graph of him accelerating from a dead stop, would you? lol Would like to see those numbers. After reading Knapp's comment, I was thinking of just getting a '21 ZR 9000 and wrapping it. I like the lowered SRX-like stance of the ZR 9000, 24/50 gears, and the 1.25" track. But seeing those numbers for the 900T is encouraging. On the one hand I'd like to try the best of another manufacturer, and I'm comfortable with tuning the 900T because my SXS has one, but on the other hand I'd hate to have a 20K+ dog as a second sled!

I know the Doo speedo is highly optimistic! More so than even the older one. Tuned 900t is not very fast. The meter is off by over 8 MPH at 100. I read the other day that a tuned one went 105 but speedo was 118. That’s MPH. KILOS or whatever you guys north of the border run would have to be more than 8KPH at 200. Just go Read about them at DooTalk. If you want a speedster, the 900T is not it. Honestly, they are not much to write home about. They are a good quality sled, but you will not be happy with the front end on it, the throttle or the power coming off a cat. At least you don’t have to do all the fixes to keep bearings from spinning on the shaft or worry about chain case is exploding if you don’t have all the fixes done inside.
myself, I consider myself a Doo guy, but that 900T is just not for me. Would make a good sled for my wife however. Something she could ride and I never had to worry about, just change the oil and go. The cat needs some fixes as we all know. It’s the only two choices you have for Turbo factory sleds. I’ll take the one that needs a few fixes as it does ride and handle much better, and we all know the fixes by now anyway.

One of my riding buddies has a 2020 850 Gade...106mph on his speedo is only 96mph on the GPS...his dream meter is as bad as the original Apex speedos.
124 MPH speedo on my 2019 SW XTX is 114mph on the GPS...not great accuracy either

Wow there getting quick, almost as fast as a stock srx, wonder if they will last pumped to the max like that?I never compared a stock winder! I actually never even tried a stock winder..lol

Knapp being a doo guy says it 8 mph not 8 kph
I haven't heard of a single failure with hurricane tunes they have all been very reliable!
But yes they are running max of what the injectors could handle

I am not trying to convince snowcaine on purchasing a 900t just giving him the Info and experience I have with them!!!
My thoughts
- pulls hard 0 to 100mph
- feel lighter then 998
- felt tippy in the corners
- well built (minimal reliability issues)
- not a competitor against a 998 but next in line in the 4 stroke class when tuned (not including aftermarket turbo set ups on 1200, vipers....)

Is the majority if not all of the difference attributable to track slippage ?One of my riding buddies has a 2020 850 Gade...106mph on his speedo is only 96mph on the GPS...his dream meter is as bad as the original Apex speedos.

The message(dial) is fine , its the messenger (track ) that's the cause .
Are heavily studded tracks more accurate ?
If so would this be true ?

My spedo is within .9 MPH on my winder at 120MPH. Checked it once this winter and 121 on meter was 120.1 on my GPS on my road for a short blast. You must be spinning like a bugger or have something amiss with that weird 3" track drive setup or something.
I kinda want to try a turbo doo 1200. They are hard to find though...
I've had a few. Loved them! BUT, the Winder handles and rides so much better or I'd be back on one in a heartbeat. Mine were all fast and trouble free, just can't keep skis on the ground either accelerating or in a corner. Very nice and light, but handling not up to the Cat. The 1200 Rotax is a sweet-sweet engine and can take a boat load of boost.
