So my 16' viper has had a 17' flash?
My speedo was within 2km/hr of gps before I even got a flash.
My first flash in December of 2016 screwed up the speedo by around 20-30km/hr. this was the flash that wasn't completed by first dealer.
So I went to second dealer and that's what he said, that it wasn't completed. Then he reflashed with updated flash and then speedo is now spot on. My buddy had his flashed right beside at first dealer right beside my sled in my trailer and he nEver had any problems with speedo...

Yes your Viper has had 2 17 flashes now and the original 15,16 flash. As far as your buddy not having a speedo error. Maybe then he got lucky! All I know is that the speedo error never should have happened and it is not a techs fault if it did. Think of downloading just about anything nowadays. There are warnings if you stop it early many things you cannot stop the download once initiated. That is how this is. I am telling you if its stopped everything is lost and Sled will not run. Only way to do that is to actually pull the plug. I have seen it happen. Believe what you want. But think about it. Why would Yamaha put out two flashes within a month? So my 16' viper has had a 17' flash?

In your case I am thinking when the flashes were made they forgot about your sled with 7 tooth drivers. Your service guy may very well be correct. Hopefully he made some calls.Problem is my service guy told me over the phone that Yamaha site says no new flash for my vin #...haven't had time to drive up there so I'm preparing myself...they hate when I mention the internet/ty4stroke.

I'm never said it was the techs fault, all I'm saying is my new dealer told me first 17' flash wasn't completed and that's probably why my speedo was off. And my sled still ran after first flash. I'm just going by what my dealer has told me. Like I said, my buddies sled is fine from the first flash.

Please tell us the model of your sled and model of your buddies sled.
I'm asking because my current understanding is that the speedo inaccuracy didn't affect all models due to different driver sizes.
Ok then we understand each other. Ask your new dealer why there was two flashes within a month and all previous flashes we had to wait over a year for. As for your buddy. Is his sled the same as yours? I have always suspected that there must be one or more configurations that the first 17 flash would have to have had correct speedo. His must be that configuration.I'm never said it was the techs fault, all I'm saying is my new dealer told me first 17' flash wasn't completed and that's probably why my speedo was off. His was a 129 dx and mine a 137
The error must have been serial number related then. Drivers are the same. In other words his serial number was assigned the speedo mapping with 9 tooth drivers and your serial number was assigned something else. Really doesn't matter. Yamaha fixed it with the newest flash for all except Upei it seems. Hopefully they issue a third flash for his.His was a 129 dx and mine a 137

I don't think we're on the same page here cannon, the first 17 flash was to fix starter kickback, which it did, but also threw off the speedo so the 2nd 17 flash was to correct the speedo. Ok I guess we are lol. It's just weird how his wasn't affected but mine was. And that's just what the dealer told me. That mine wasn't completed...
Your new dealer wants you as a customer. He will tell you things to make other dealers look bad. Take advantage of that.

Maybe, but I was right beside him and his laptop in the shop as it was hooked up when he said that...now I never looked at his laptop, but maybe he was bullshitting, idk.Your new dealer wants you as a customer. He will tell you things to make other dealers look bad. Take advantage of that.
However, I am now remembering that the first dealer told me if they fall within a certain window for serial numbers to bRing those ones in. Mine was within the window for my model and my buddies was only a few outside the window for his model. I actually think I posted the numbers in this thread for our models. Dealer said even if it's outside the window by a few to still bring it in just incase...
Your sled is so rare. I suspect you and your dealer are going to have to call Corporate to get your speedo fixed or maybe its just that when track was replaced magnets got put in wrong and you just never noticed till now?Problem is my service guy told me over the phone that Yamaha site says no new flash for my vin #...haven't had time to drive up there so I'm preparing myself...they hate when I mention the internet/ty4stroke.
You see the issue? You have a XTX with 7 tooth drivers. According to this your sled does not exist.

Entire flash is serial number based that's why in 15 when us 14 guys got the flash and wanted to go back to old we couldn't. When hooked up it only installs what the serial number calls for all automatically. If its not required it just doesn't proceed.Maybe, but I was right beside him and his laptop in the shop as it was hooked up when he said that...now I never looked at his laptop, but maybe he was bullshitting, idk.
