SRX 1" track question

I'll echo this - I've had the Storm for 1500 miles this year with great results. Very happy with this track for the abundant snow conditions we've had. Sadly I couldn't take more time away from work to get an abundant amount of miles on and the season now looks to be done.

Did you get a bit of track howl between 30-40mph because i had zero track howl until i got it back from the dealer after my 500 mile service not sure if its the drive wheels wearing in its just weird that i never noticed it until after my 500 mile service

I would be concerned that the chain may be over tightened.

Dealer set it to 1 turn out and i brought it back got them to set it to 1.5 turns out and there was no difference

I have the Igrips in my storm 150 work great, will the lugs on the 1" have solid spots big enough to put Igrips in? Thinking of trading my LTX SE in , and getting SRX, my SE has 8400 miles and runs great, dealer said 8500 turn in?

One complaint my dealer has had is the lack of bite when braking too. Traction gets you going....but it also stops you. Something else to keep in mind with smaller lug track.

my biggest concern with the 1.25 track on my 17 LTX- LE is the braking .
I would go to a ripper 1.5 to improve braking , and improve hookup .Top end is good enough .

Smaller lug track is stupid IMO. If it’s like any other sled I’ve ridden when going from a 1” to a 1.25” there will be a large advantage in looser conditions with 1/4” more lug.
SRX is made for lake racing and they can get a little more MPH with the smaller lug.
My sled has a 1.375” lug track and I have no problems hitting over 130mph on 270hp tune.
If you want better trail manners and top speed just get a tuned sidewinder, that way you don’t have to change the track. M2C

It will go faster than 130. My girlfriend had it at 135 on a plowed road. My point is the 1” track will never hook as well as a 1.25” if it gets soft/loose. If you want top speed and don’t want a tune, then yes get the 1” track.
With a tune the 1” track is useless, unless you want to go 150mph.
I had a 1” track on my old 185hp Viper, switched to a 1.25” track.....WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

One other aspect of this track lug height discussion to consider.

Buddy bought a used 17 RTX- LE, it came with a new cobra ice track. We both have the same tune, Max Spool 16 / 3 bar and BOV. His is sm, and mine is smm.

I have always had a overheat issue when riding on hard pack groomed trails or marginal snow conditions. And yes have made sure that anti freeze ratio is at 60/40, added water wetter, etc etc. Have no choice but to use Ice Scratchers and lower all suspension settings to 1, on those days! ( Took my stock track off back in 2017 and opted for the 1.22 Ice Attak XT.)

My buddies RTX will not overheat anyplace, mine, same old same old.

Buddy is tired of losing lots of top end speed with that Ice Cobra, so he decides to cut it down to 7/8” and add studs. Well he gained a lot of top end, about 8-10mph on hard pack, very impressive difference for sure.. BUT now his overheats easier then mine!!! Noticeable right away on hard trails.

So moral to this short story is. Shorter lug tracks do not throw as much snow onto coolers, but do add lots of speed on top end.

Hoping to see what that RTX will do on Ice now, realizing that it went 128 speedo on hard pack.

Nice, is the speedometer accurate after 100 mph or have you checked on gps, mine is stock and a 1.5" track it rolls 119 -122 and i'm seeing 105-107 on the gps but not ideal conditions 1" of slush on the lake seems like it starts spinning at 90 mph. I was able to check it in december with good hard trail and 102 speedo was reading 101 gps consistently on a short run

No I’ve never had my turbo viper that fast. But that’s the exact speed a big a$$ jet actually lifts off the ground.

Same app I use on my phone to check my top speed when riding. Like I said the sled has gone 135 mph with a 1.375” track and still climbing, 24/41 gears.
Why would I ever want to go to a smaller lug track? I already have all the top speed I could ever want!
