Status Update for Sidewinder: Luggage Bags, LE Goggle Bags and Rear Skid

Having the RR skid was a "piece of mind thing". Knowing that it was going to hold up to just about anything under normal riding conditions. Yes an unconditional warranty would help save a few bucks, but the feeling of security while riding was worth allot more to me. It just wouldn't replace that and it doesn't keep from missing riding time because you have to repair a broken rail. Or god forbid, an accident because something lets go. I REALLY hope Yamaha produces these parts that were omitted and sold us on and has a recall to make this right.

The cats will be exactly the same skid wise. You have said that yourself. Maybe different shocks for models. I highly doubt the 129 will not have the RR skid. That was shown at Haydays. The XC cat has a RR watered down skid. Anyone want to make a bet the Viper RTX LE and The Sidewinder RTX LE has the watered down RR skid? If in fact they do then obviously this letter is also wrong. Have to ask what that means. We will see shortly.
Well Powersports1 has some rtx le's he is going to take a picture when they are out of the crate so maybe we can see if they have that skid?

They will not either.

"Why does the Sidewinder R-TX LE, Viper L-TX LE & Sidewinder L-TX LE not have the ‘Race’ Skid rear suspension?
Some marketing materials referenced that Sidewinder R-TX LE, Viper L-TX LE & Sidewinder L-TX LE come equipped with SR129 & SR137 dual shock ‘Race’ skid.
The 2017 production Sidewinder R-TX LE, Viper L-TX LE & Sidewinder L-TX LE units have the dual shock SR129 & SR137 rear skid with upgraded Fox QS3 Kashima-coated shocks. These skids are the correct specification and meet or exceed all durability and performance requirements.

Yamaha would like to remind everyone that unit specifications are subject to change and regrets any inconvenience."

And if they do, that would be worse yet. (I'm guessing the LTX-LE owners will be even more irate.)

Seems like most if not all marketing materials as well as personal Yamaha representative statements in videos stated the RR skid. Not to mention there were threads on why this was a significant factor in choosing an LTX over the XTX 137. If there is a RR in a consumer Cat then they should provide that IMO for the Yamacat sleds. They can say they never made a 137 RR all they want - It's actually in the damn video.

Hmmmm. Retired in a huff maybe

I am brand new to Yamaha with my SideWinder LTX-LE. Am I the only one that is concerned about not only loosing the Upgraded RR Skid but also the extra Idler wheels outside of the Rail? I know there is talk about additional wheel(s) inside the rail but could Yamaha at least add the wheel kit as seen in the advertising Materials?

If you're talking rear wheels, those wheels are inside the rail. There are none on the outside. That was one of the first things recommended to accessorize by others here and dealer when I ordered in the Spring.

he's talking the dual outside the rail front wheels ...

two things Yamaha acts quickly on...potential liability and lawyers...I hate to go there...but the B.S. reply has me frosted..

My bad. SJ did your Sidewinder come with those? Mine was in the crate when I saw it. So, have no idea about the dual outside front wheels.

dealers got a memo on the 27th about the goggle bags, stx dx windshields, and race skid .yds-10-27-16

NO ADDICT...we got switched to a standard skid...no extra wheels...no beefed up rails...heavy duty cross shafts etc..

first image is what we were promised...second is their reply

I hate to rub it in but the geometry of the RR skid is better also for many. Been fighting lack of sag for 3 years on standard skid. RR skid it's there already. To me that's a biggie.

Don't forget the heavy duty aluminum linkage on the sides of the rear shock.
