Question to you turbo Viper boys. What track length do you recommend? I'm considering new Sidewinder & wondering if 137'' track might be best to get this 180-195 hp hooked up. I'm an aggressive groomed trail rider & do NOT like corner pushing. Any words here, specifically from turbo Vipers, will be appreciated...

I have a Viper XTX with the MPI turbo. Mines at 141" and 1.6" lug. It hooks up pretty good. My preference is the 137 or 141. The uncoupled 141 loads up better when you hit the flipper, but takes more work to get it to corner than the coupled 137 with shorter lugs. With that said you can get the XTX to corner very well if your comfortable tweaking things in the suspension. I can ride my XTX just as hard as my friends LTX through the twisties. The longer track would be better if your trails get beat up. If I only rode smooth hardpack I'd look at the RTX too. As for pushing in the corners I think the skis have more to do with that than the track. Tuners were decent with 4" and 6" studboys but now that I have Mohawks on it I really get no push, laser like handling, and steering effort is reasonable.

I'm going to hold on to my viper for now. Super happy with it. Turbo completely transforms it. The Sidewinder should be an awesome sled.

I agree jpothof I have 2015 Xtx se 141" 180 turbo with the Hygear pro link, c&a Ski's and it's a trail burner

I have a 1.6" track and its was way cheaper to get the pro linkage than to get a 137" and buy a different track

I'm really happy with my 137, handling is super with tuners and 6s
I agree with jpothof, the skis will have more of an impact than the track length
if you really want it to hook from a dead stop, on a 1.25 track, you'll need 1.625 or 1.7 studs, about 4 per row
now that'll make it push :)

137 seems to be the all trail answer. That being said I think you can make the 141 an awsome trail sled.

I'm really happy with the 137. I studded 144 down the middle. Tuners with 6 incher carbides. The sled is on rails on hard pack and just zero push. In the loose stuff it does push a bit but I think it's just because the track is constantly spinning ( operator problems).

I have an XTX 141 with 141 studs 3 per row and 750ish ice screws. My limiter is pulled down all the way plus 3 holes and corners well. Still pushes in the corners imo, but is faster than my buddies 137 XF and his rails the corners. I think I would go with the 137 next go around.. We ride VERY aggressively.

i do like my 137, but at first it wouldn't transfer enough weight, i have a lot of time and some cash into it to get it to hook. if i would do it again i would go 141 to get the deeper lug track, and to have better off trail riding. and i would put the pro linkage in it to make it coupled. best of both worlds i would think.

Was just up in Michigan and I was thinking my 137 1.25 lug was great off trail! I am still planning on upgrading track this summer to the 1.75 but overall I thought it was great off trail.

I am thinking about the 1.6 pre-studded cobra for next year. If I do go that route I am also thinking about having it cut to 14 inch wide to aide in turning on tight trails. It would be 137 X 14 wide....

Thanks for all input boys. So to sum up, let me narrow this to 2 specific questions. 1) Do you feel with 129'' will be all track spin? 2) Can the 137'' be dialed back so not all ski lift? It looks the longer track on this chassis seems to be preferred.

BTW...if i go 137'', i'll have to buy a new trailer. MO' money MO' money. I think i'd rather be dialing back extra traction compared to trying to get more...Are you guys gonna make me spend more money? I thought you were my friends.

A well setup 129 can hook up as well or better than a 141 and surely better than a 137". 137 has the least transfer of any length stock. 129 is much closer in transfer to the 141. Put picks in or a bigger track for snow and you wont be looking at spinning you will be looking at the stars if wanted. If the limiting factor is traction spin it fast something I learned Mudbog racing long ago. Both contestants are going to spin so whoever spins the fastest and most rpm they will win. Had a 8000 rpm motor that I launched at redline everytime. Beat alot of much higher horsepower and bigger tired guys. Works well on sled also. 129 will always be lighter also.

137 definitely has the least transfer. Mine hooks up quite well but it would be nice to be able to get some ski lift when I need it. Now I haven't really looked into it but if the 137 XTX sidewinder is uncoupled that could be a winner

I have a 129 with 1 3/4 track. Not much track spin at all. Hooks up like a rapped ape. Tho the track didn't last to long trying the 1 1/2 ripsaw next year. Also with c&a skis thing handers great in the corners. Which ever you pick I can't see you being disappointed
