Testing with TD GPS/Dragy

I'll use this thread to continue testing next winter. Some offseason changes will be a 1" track, sharper studs & higher gearing. My goal is a 1320 @ 130 on pump gas.

I still have more clutching to test but I'm very happy with where I ended up. The Cat red sec spring is one I'm for sure going to make some passes with.

I'll attempt that also, but it may be a tall order. I ordered a 19 SRX today.
I'm going to attempt it with the stock drivers however.
I asked my dealers if there was clutch setting changes, he said yes, but they are not confirmed yet.

If your so worried about fuel just run power trail and be done with it. PT is super safe on 91.

Yes,i am bending that direction,PT but the problem I had last week,would not matter what octane anyone put in tank,if its half full of water.

Ulmer pink primary spring
41/35 Dalton helix
Dalton black orange at 3-3

Pretty much spent the day dialing in the weight for TD Max 17. I had a hard time hooking up as the track was glare ice.
Ran 123.3 in 1320'
129.2 in 2000'
131.4 in 2300' roughly
GPS speeds.

I made a good 15 passes, I could hold my hands on the clutches at any time. My offset is 60.65mm.

Time to gear up and go to a 1" fully clipped track with better studs for next year.

Is the Dalton 41/35 helix the best choice for quick spool tunes? 270-290hp?

I can't say that but I have it working well for me.

I just noticed your 137 is the xtx,is that geared different than the ltx 137? Your stock sled came with the 1.6 track lug height? Lastly,you already have achieved some very good top speeds this year correct? You also have multy tune package correct? Wow you may have some awesome speeds for next year with a 1" lug vrs 1.6..

Originally I had the 1.75 backcountry. I ran the ripsaw 2 this past winter. Next winter I'll try the 1" rip 1 off the SRX. Same gearing as the LTX. I ran 22/41. Will try 22/37 next winter.

I can't say that but I have it working well for me.

DMC, I thought you were running a 41/37? I was running the same. I was keeping a close eye on your posts as it seemed you had the plowed track near by. That's awesome! I'm jealous for sure! I got a short window of a week to run ice this year and it was on the smaller ponds due to some snow and wind reeking havoc on the big ponds this past winter. In Maine we had 18 inches of powder or moguls on the ice. There are zero trials around my area for running at speed. Everything is up north if we want to go fast. Anyway, I want to thank you for posting results throughout the year as you tuned your sled. Most guys want to keep their set up a secret! Although I want to thank guys for revealing...and they know who they are!
Keep us in mind next year as you bring your winder up to warp speeds!

Yes I'm very fortunate to have a nice track a minute down the trail from my house. I haven't tried a 41/37 but would like to because it may be quicker. I just do this for fun and enjoy trying to better my speeds. No secrets here and hopefully some of it has helped others. Just remember what works for me may not work for everyone.

I'm also learning as I go and the best investment last year was the TD GPS.

Absolutely! I mounted my TD GPS next to my seat heat switch in the cowling. Sleds not near me so no picture, but it's super easy to see and use after a run. I'm with you. I don't need to be the fastest but it's all about beating personal bests. And the rush of speed is just the best. Something we can't get anymore on local roads. Years back we could stop on the highway and race without worrying about any cars interfering. It's a different age today and these sleds provide an outlet that is a thing of the past!
Can't wait to see what next year brings!
