the GOOD, the BAD, the UGLY, the UGLIER, the Not so bad & the God

No need for a 2-stroke on trail, buddy and I rode...him on a Doo 2-stroke me on a Sidewinder, both exact riding experience, we have been riding together for years, he could not keep up period, and that's me not even hearing my blow off valve going off...and that was on one of those more stable doo's. The G4 (narrow) you can forget about it... Those things are Awfull they want to toss you in the trees.

I made this statement years ago.
Notice how Doo waited until their 850 pushed 165 hp BEFORE they brought out the 900T.
I think somebody should talk to Ben about his TD tune. From what he posted on DT the 200 hp tune works really well and is an overachiever. He is getting some pretty impressive speeds out of that engine.

OK, i'm going to tell you boys what went on in the OCD head this week. It was HELL! (of course it's always chaotic in there)
At first i thought i was on the baddest #*$&@ sled on this planet. Then the coolant hose broke & i was pissed.
I started thinking 900T next year.
Then the other Winder had chain case issues & i was convinced i was going to trade mine BEFORE it was even fixed. If they had any NON-AC machines at the repair shop, i'd be owning it now!
Once i got my Winder back & Art, MrKnapp & SteveO called me a wuss, i started liking my sled again. NO FEAR.
I became the man i once was. Out front & alone.
Then i rode my old Apex & realized how snappy & responsive it is. I can hold it open on some of my trails for 9 MISSISSIPPI's. My Winder only 2 MISSISSIPPI's before it gets just darn dangerous. I started thinking responsibly & maybe a 600 Etec.
You heard me, a 600!

Then we came up on some 850's on the way to the remote lodge LIBBY's.
We passed a few, but the last guy kept riding harder & harder trying to stay up front knowing we might be taking the last open table.
He was on one ski, like the guy in Better Off Dead, until we out-handled him in some big sweepers & out-powered him on the straightaway. (he high fives us later)
My bud was all jacked up with the high speed & thought he was the dominant buck in these woods.................then i passed him at 115!
He said i was sideways like a drifter in Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift when i passed.

RECAP:

I went from loving my sled, to hating my sled, to loving but not trusting my sled, to loving my Apex until i hit a bump, to wanting a 600, to wanting a 850, to wanting to fix my sled & keep it.

MORALE of STORY:

Be glad you don't have my brain!

The relationship you describe with your winder made me reminisce of when I dated a porn star in college. Same thing!! Lol

I rode my buddies 850 renegade and was not impressed felt like I was on a toy snowmobile for my kids. Back on the SW and was so glad. I am on the fence as mine has been flawless till now and running great
X2 here also! I got the chance to ride my buddies new 850 Doo for about 20 miles last weekend, I have to admit that thing handled and ran pretty good so I had to be honest with him... "you have the best running 440 I've been on in a while... His reply, " Yours sounds and feels like a jet fighter..." I have 1000 miles of 270hp fun on my winder so far using most of the remedies found on this site. I have to admit sometimes it's like waiting for a heart attack though...

Like my ex they like to be ridden hard put away wet and then some TLC

SteveOCD you have a lot going on in that nugget of yours...... lol......

Its a good thing he wears an ankle bracelet and cant to within 500 yards of a school.............

Brp just can't bring themselves to have a 4stroke sled that will drive around their flagship money maker etecs.
4 stroke engines are twice the cost to manufacture as a 2 stroke.

They last way too long so you don’t have to buy a new sled every 3~4 years.

They don’t make them because it costs more and hurts future sled sales. They have all these foos totally blindfolded about power output. 850 Doo guys think their junk is fast. They actually believe in their little pea brains the 850’s are only a couple mph slower than a Winder on top end.
I had a 850 owner tell me he would blow my doors off too 100mph!
Really?
Well we raced and it wasn’t even a race, start to finish he got totally spanked. He immediately had excuses, he was totally in denial.

The best part was we were racing back across the lake to where his friends were hanging out, they all got too see the football field gap I put on him.
Oh yea he let off or something stupid like that.

The best part is when they talk about their 2 strokes and keep saying how much fun they are to ride. The say the fun factor is through the roof and you can throw them around with ease. They act like if you own a 4 stroke you're not having fun. I wonder how much fun it is to use gallons of oil during the season and always fearing your engine can blow any second.

You are right about the cost of 4 stroke engines over 2 stroke. BRP is smart with their 2 strokes. They push them because they are their cash cow. They make all their money on two strokes. They can replace a large number of 2 stroke engines under warranty and still make more money than they do on 4 strokes.

Polaris is even smarter than BRP by only offering 2 stroke disposable engines on all their sleds.

This could be why BRP started the 900T at a rated 150HP. They can bump up the power output every 2-3 seasons to entice the 4s crowd to trade up.

How long does it take you to order dinner at a restaurant?

Not even close to the power we have Joe.....

Agree that the 900t for me could never be owned stock, thats way down in the stock 850 territory.

There just have not been enough tuned 900ts out there so far, and Ive been watching all the tuned 900ts, hoping for some better speeds.

Would have to just completely get the big power of our tuned Winders out of our head to go back unfortunately.

Dan
