Not even close to the power we have Joe.....
Agree that the 900t for me could never be owned stock, that way down in the stock 850 territory.
There just have not been enough tuned 900ts out there so far, and Ive been watching all the tuned 900ts, hoping for some better speeds.
Would have to just completely get the big power of our tuned Winders out of our head to go back unfortunately.
Dan
Its a trade-off I think owning the 900T would be boring and take time to get over the big SW power. I am all over the place with this, my sled has been running and riding awesome the suspension is dialed in with the Axis shocks even for a heavy girl. Damn it. Wonder if AC or Yamaha or whatever or whoever owns it will come out with a fresh lighter chassy

I hear ya.....Im always watching the latest sleds, and this time of the year is like Xmas for me seeing what each manufacturer brings out. Doo has basically brought BNG and the new Gauges only. So that means if the 900t got a power bump, it wont be til '21.Its a trade-off I think owning the 900T would be boring and take time to get over the big SW power. When I had my 1200, It was a nice sled, did alot to mod it and got it up around 110gps. But that was it, and even though it was dead nuts reliable and never blew a belt, it just was boring. The new g4 900t is much better with regards to XRS package shocks, better ergos, and handling then my 1200 had. And pretty close in power/speed to my 1200. Overall it is a nice little turbo for my tight trails, and likely a better choice. But when I hit the lakes, and head north to Qc on the big trails, Im certain ill miss my Winder with tune. The iTC is something I just think about constantly on our demo ride, the on/off feel is just horrible and not smooth, and anything below SPORT mode feels horrendous and disconnected. Lets face it, there are only a few true performance riders over in the 900t forums, and I have spoke with those guys and they are working on them to make more power. Most others all are just older guys that ride with their families and really not concerned with performance.
No matter what anyone thinks about the Winder reliability and Cat DNA, EVERYONE agrees when they ride mine or try one, TUNED.....the Winder is mind boggling fun. Words like "mental" are used when guys come back, the power is astounding and we all here are used to it and expect that now from a sled. Anytime I ride ANY other sled its simply Underwhelming to state it mildly.
We have been spoiled by the 998. YAMAHA built this motor for our power hungry brains, and if they would only put engineering into a few other parts of this overall design, we could be so much happier. Its guys like Travis who are fixing things for us, so we can get more miles with less wrenching, and Obviously Hurricane and Knapp and others here have given us all a fighting chance at reliability.
So we either keep the Winder and be ultra OCD with looking after these monsters, or we throw in the towel and join the guys who simply are not concerned with performance as we are here. Im not sure Im that far gone yet. Im watching the cat/yam releases closely(Cat is friday) and hoping for some straight action from them. I believe the new big thing from Cat will likely be a MT 2s, probably a 850 or higher CC....so its very likely we in the 998 world get NOTHING but BNG. So it will be another season of wrenching up our Winders to keep up with the Cat DNA.

Travis can you please make a kit to put the 998 in the XRS chassy?

Why. The cat has great suspension package and chassis. Front end feel is awesome. It's the drivetrain that needs a pile of work.Travis can you please make a kit to put the 998 in the XRS chassy?
The Doo chaincase would be huge improvement!
I was joking but this thing needs some serious weight less and and fresh thinking.

Same boat for me...plus everyone is ignoring the 129 skid on 4strokes now. No BRP 4Stroke 129 in 2020, No Yamaha Winder 129 in 2019 (doubt you'll see one in 2020) and Cat has the Sno Pro only. No RR package in 2019. Doesn't look like Poo is interested in putting forward a 4 stroke. Have been trying 137 skids here and there. It's not for me. I still miss my 120s and 121s.

No doubt about the big power of a tuned Winder. Big headaches too. You won't get that kind of power in the 900 or the headaches. I think a 200 hp 900 will work well on your trails though Dan. Maybe not so much on the lakes. Not even close to the power we have Joe.....

Lots of season left, and I have 5 yr warranty so no rush. I had wanted to keep her 4 yrs and sell her with 1yr warranty left for new owner. Maybe best thing is to sit back and see where things go the next couple seasons. My sled literally has every single worrisome thing modded or fixed now, and belt life all in check this season. So it really would be hard to part with for something that doesn't call to me 100%.

Absolutely Dan. You have already taken most of the steps you need to make it much more reliable than it was brand new. You should sit back and enjoy it now.Agree Joe......I have a hard time convincing myself...lol
