Man, wish I could run 90 and you have the 144 track.
I need details! What primary clutch set up do you have, what secondary spring are you using, what gears are you using and what track drives?
Stock MTX clutching on the primary which is a Green-yellow-green primary spring with 8DN-10 weights. I have the heaviest rivets in both holes which are the 17.2mm 4.5g ones. Engagement is a bit high at ~4200 but she yanks the skies up pretty good at launch and carries them quite a ways. Secondary is the YVX with stock 41* helix and what I assume is the original 16 year old green spring wrapped 3-2 for 50*. Pulls a nice even 11,500-11,600 across the shift range and has STRONG engine breaking up top and good backshift off trail. I have 19/41 gearing with 8t drivers which is dang near identical to a shorty with 17/41 gearing and 9t drivers. 90mph (~82-83gps) is under GOOD conditions, soft snow or 2-3" of powder on the trail brings it down to 82-83mph on the dream-o-meter. I seen 89-90 quite a bit running with my buddies out in the UP this past weekend, they have a 600 IQ shift and a 800 Assaults. I can definitely tell this secondary is working more efficiently than the stock one did, more speed and more miles per gallon!

Thanks for the info. Maybe I should swap my 43 helix for a 41? I'm also running the green spring and see 11,600 but the best I've seen is 85 on the dream meter and normally see 80. What did you set your toe too, maybe I have a little drag there. I'm set to 7mm out.

Got the "new" clutch cleaned up, and started mounting it today.
I had to use both thick spacers to get enough offset from the primary. Spec is 14.5mm - 17.5mm and I am at 16.5mm with using both the 2 spacers that were already on the sled and putting them behind the secondary.
Measured my collar and exactly flush with no freeplay is 1.9558cm (.770") on the caliper.
Using the 1-2mm spec for freeplay, cutting the collar at 2.1082cm (.830") will give me exactly 1.5mm freeplay. I think yours was the same Ruggy wasn't it?
Point being UPBushmans was 0.770", and some of ours are a little different so go buy a caliper if you are doing this and double, triple check. We have a local machine shop so I am going to ask them to cut it as I cant guarantee a dead-on cut with tools I have.
Updates to follow, many thanks to Cannondale and UPBushman for all the original info, you guys helped LOTS of us out!

You have exactly the same situation I have. Ended up using the 2 thicker washers to get the same 16.5 and .830 gave me 1.5 freeplay.

I'll have a chance to rip around this weekend and try it out. Before bolting it all in I used aluminum polish and made that helix into a mirror, scuffed any rough spots that were scoring the helix buttons.
Did you have to shim your secondary at all to get belt ride height correct? Just in the shop I am sitting just above the sheaves.
DAMNNNN changing belts is sweet on a Yamaha!!! Like BlueIron said 5 seconds. OK maybe 10.. lol

Mine was sitting a touch low so I had new bolts and installed an extra washer to bring the belt up. I sitting right flush now.
What spring are you using? I had the pink installed and my RPM were high so I installed a green and now running 10,800-11,200 depending on snow conditions. I'm going to have to reclutch latter on because I'm going to a 144 and 2 inch paddles.

I had to remove all the shims, on the 3 bolts, to get the belt to the right hieght with a new belt. The lugs just barely stick above the sheaves.

green spring, 41* helix
I am going to start at 50* (2-3) and go from there

I'm running a 43 helix and was thinking about changing to a 41. Can someone describe to me how this would effect the performance going to a lower helix? Right now the sled runs well and actually surprised in how little engine braking I have.
Edit: Figured it out. The 41 would give you a quicker back shift.

Finally got it in and out for a ride! All I can say is should have done this 2 years ago! (Keep in mind I am comparing to a damaged clutch with incorrect spring type)
I noticed lower rpm at cruising speeds, smoother take off overall, and consistent rpm at WOT. Super happy with the results. Belt riding a little high, and did not have a chance to check top speed.
But after a 1/2 hr ride I pulled the cover off and both primary and secondary warm to the touch, nothing hot and NO belt dust. I am so happy with this not going to touch a thing (besides belt height) 41* helix, 3-2 (50* wrap), green spring. Maybe a brand new green spring as this one is 16 years old with unknown miles.

Just another heads up, our phazers use "short cover" primary springs while the rest of he newer sleds use tall/long cover springs. I'm going to order up some softer primary springs and try to come up with a setup that works with a silver secondary spring. I might be getting some belt slip as my recently killed factory belt looked a bit glazed but I don't know if the 4,800 miles killed it, or over heating it did over the last 1,200 did with a green spring secondary.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep an eye on mine too.

BlueIron when you remove the 3 Washers does that drop the belt height? I'm riding too high at the moment
also went up north for a few days and all I cam say is daaaaaammmnn! The sled absolutely rips! That 41* helix is perfect! 10,900 in deep powder and 11,500 on hard pack. I could go 60* on the wrap but gawd the midrange acceleration is so good right now! 2 guys could not believe how fast it was for a 500. Tore some bigger sleds out of the hole a couple times and they weren't running away from me until 100km/h. Damn it just shreds compared to before!
I'm now considering going 136x1.75 or 144x1.5... This little beast has the stones for it I think with a 17t gear
even with the 1.5" track I hit 140 km/h on a moderately hard packed stretch. Didn't have a chance to let her go on the ice however, would have been interesting!

Adding washers raises the belt, removing lowers it. I had to remove all the washers to get the fresh belt to ride low enough. Also the tips of the 3 bolts are known to wear and cause the belt to ride too high.
