Thanks, I will try that when I get on a lake (if I get on a lake) this winter. We have had 3 heat waves now this winter, never seen this warm of temps in January! Basically nobody is riding. No tracks in the ditches anywhere.Try the stock Phazer Primary spring see what happens.

I'm looking at converting to the new style secondary and am hoping you guy can give me some advice on a good starting point for a helix and spring. I'd like to find a clutch with the correct helix and then just replace the spring as they are a lot cheaper.
The current setup is:
Stock 39* helix.
Stock secondary spring.
Ulmer's primary spring.
Ulmer's weights with no rivits in them.
Stock rollers in the primary.
18 tooth gear
I'm running a 136"Freeride and it seems be to all working together really well.
I'm thinking a 41* or 43* with the green spring should work. Has anyone done this with a 136"?

What do you average more off trail or trail and what is your weight with gear ? If trail the 43 would rock but if more off trail the 41 0r 39 would be better.

I'm about 150lbs so with gear I'm guessing around 180lbs.
I'm probably 70% to 80% trail so the 41 sounds like a good compromise between the three.
I'm really kicking myself, the 97 Phazer SS I sold in 2006 to buy this Phazer had the new clutch with a 41 in it.

With you being that light the 43 would work sweet. When I ran the 43 on the trail or two tracks it ripped hard with a 17/41 gearing with 144" 1.75" Back Country track and me being 300 lbs. with gear. In the deep it accelerated hard but could not hold the rpms would hold about 10,500 rpms well under peak 11,300 rpm. The 43 will wake that thing up like you won't believe I loved it it just would not hold the load pushing snow like a bulldozer over the nose good luck let us know.

Do you think given my lighter weight I would be able to keep the rpm up in the deep snow?
I'm also running 18/41 for gearing but with less track than you.
That 20% - 30% of the time off the trial can look more like this (pre 136):View attachment 110590
Ha! Gotta stay out of Cattails even with long track!

It's done and working! Running a YVX from a 97 V-Max 600. Has a green spring and a 43* helix. The spacer that came with it worked when it was cut down. Also dumped the plates from the side to help with cooling.
Got at chance to try it out today. Was riding with my there year old so we were just cruising. It seems to be much smoother. Did take it out on the lake after without him and it pulls to 11,600 rpm then settles back to 10,900 - 11,000 rpm and creep up to 11,200 rpm but I need to do some more testing.
Seems to pull harder but I'll have to line it up again a stock one to see.

Well I've pulled the pin and ended up taking this route thanks to UP and all the feedback from members!!
I've read through many times to really understand and get a feel for what's working but am also wondering what route most took in the primary.
The one I bought today is off an 07 Vector with a 43* in it.
My plan is to buy the MTX primary arms with some misc yami rivets. Looks like 4.5g is the number in both or nothing in heel and 4.5 in tip.
Currently have stock exhaust back on, no other performance mods. Would look to tune if I end up putting the chrome aftermarket back on.
14 xtx 19/41 8tooth
Any feedback taking the MTX arm route and possible some help picking a primary spring??
Or am I way off here.
I also wondered if anyone knows the actual weight of the stock 8gc00 arms.
EDIT: the weight of the stock arm is 47.28

I have 4.5 in heel and tip on my 8dn-10's, had 3.6 in the tip with stock exhaust. Mine has the stock mtx spring which is G-Y-G. Only thing I'm worried about is if I go the Hindle route this summer is that I may not be able to get enough weight to keep the RPM's down. Right now I spin 11,400 on firm snow and 11,100 in powder. My YVX has a 41* helix with a green spring @ 3-3 (60*) and I'm also running 19/41 8tooth for my drive but plan on dropping back to an 18 tooth as it take a LONG straight to pull the clucthes 100% with the 19 tooth. I run out of clutch @ 86mph indicated.

200 with gear and backpack.
89% trail and 11% off trail.
Riding style is pretty aggresive with smooth inputs to throttle trail and twisties utilizing brake/throttle. Usually don't stab to the bars if that makes sense.

I've ordered all parts from Yamaha which replicates your set up particularly. Only difference is 43* helix.I have 4.5 in heel and tip on my 8dn-10's, had 3.6 in the tip with stock exhaust. I'll have green, silver, pink, white secondary springs to play with. Pink and white came with it. I also ordered the 3 little bolts and both size washers for height adjustment. Feedback on here has been great to make this a well informed purchase.
With your Hindle route, plan on pc5 with map or auto tune. Packing in my sled gone in 600-800kms. Many fitment issues (rubbing) as well. Currently not on sled.

its an addiction this sledding thing!
I have YVX secondary with 41* helix and green spring, Ulmer primary arms with 3.1g added to heel and 0.8g added to tip.... and it absolutely rips. I was thinking of going to a 43* helix but I have a 17T gear and a 144x1.5" in the works so might leave it alone til Im done with that.

Agreed!! It's also a reliability thing for me. I'd say 60% of my riding is alone. Nothing better than a long ride in the trails. Pull over and just soak it all in. Throttle therapy!!its an addiction this sledding thing!
