Ya, I read that. I have my suspicions that the test sled had an issue and was overly rich based on the low stock Dyno numbers, hence the A/F ratio being spot on with the Hindle. I'm waiting to see how it pans out before I order. Either way I need a new silencer, my Ultra Q is just about burnt out after 5000 miles and getting loud.I've ordered all parts from Yamaha which replicates your set up particularly. Only difference is 43* helix.
I'll have green, silver, pink, white secondary springs to play with. Pink and white came with it. I also ordered the 3 little bolts and both size washers for height adjustment. Feedback on here has been great to make this a well informed purchase.
With your Hindle route, plan on pc5 with map or auto tune. Packing in my sled gone in 600-800kms. Many fitment issues (rubbing) as well. Currently not on sled.

Interesting, I'm running Ulmers weights and spring but no rivets in them and a 43* helix. Although I've got an 18T gear.its an addiction this sledding thing!
I have YVX secondary with 41* helix and green spring, Ulmer primary arms with 3.1g added to heel and 0.8g added to tip.... and it absolutely rips. I was thinking of going to a 43* helix but I have a 17T gear and a 144x1.5" in the works so might leave it alone til Im done with that.

I added weight to get my rpms down, the combination of Aaen muffler, Ulmer airbox mod and PCIII with Ulmer map is obviously making some power! When I just bolted everything up I was banging off the rev limiter like Dominic Toretto

I found out the weights of the stock 8GC00's in stock phasers today and very surprised ho much heavier they are than the MTX weights.
Stock Phazer 47.28
MTX 8dn-10 39.76
8dn-00 44.25
No rivits above.
Looking at curve charts I kinda get the wave the arm curves at but can someone explain how it works with different primary spring colours.
G-y-g most are using even tho higher on the chart am I reading right it has more force than the stock b-p-b

That makes sense. I've only got an Ultra Q on it so you should have some power on me.I added weight to get my rpms down, the combination of Aaen muffler, Ulmer airbox mod and PCIII with Ulmer map is obviously making some power! makes sense actually, deeper snow and higher elevation you'd generally have a lighter weight/higher rpm. At least thats how they would market an MTX.

what do the RTX have for rivets? I'm at ~49 grams total then with 8dn10 + 9.2g of rivetmakes sense actually, deeper snow and higher elevation you'd generally have a lighter weight/higher rpm. At least thats how they would market an MTX.

I hear ya there. Here in MB were 200-300m above sea level. SK 300-700. So I'm almost thinking I should have dug a little deeper and ordered the 8DN-00's. Pretty much same curve but heavier. Then tune from there. Range on the yami charts I'm well within there so should be ok.makes sense actually, deeper snow and higher elevation you'd generally have a lighter weight/higher rpm. Blue iron, the Rtx and xtx have same weights and arms. Steel.
10.3, 10.3, 13.3 tip. Sorry, don't have gram chart in front of me.

Looking at the springs they seem to flip flop each other, the RTX spring is one step lower on engagement and one step higher on tension than the MTX spring. With Identical weights the MTX spring will run a few hundred RPM lower and engage a few hundred rpm higher than the stock RTX spring. Another good candidate for weights are the 8BU-10 out of a Yamacat Viper MTX, close profile to the 8DN-10's with about 5 grams more weight, should be a few Viper MTX guys that went turbo that should have the stockers sitting around. I plan on trying a G-B-G spring to lower my engagement and rpm a touch. The goal of efficient clutching is to have as little belt grab as possible without slipping under normal riding conditions.

Excellent explanation. I'm starting to get it, slowly.
Can I ask why the curve of the MTX spring? Just it just suit the power range of our phazers?
Is it safe to assume through a lot of trial and error on all the testers posting it seamed the best. I also remember as post of them being identical curve to a couple clutch kits out there.

The springs done have a curve, just a preload and a tension number. As for the weights, I believe long track/mountain sled weights have more force down low to keep force/grip on the belt to minimize belt slipping while spinning in powder. On packed trails it will be a bit low on RPM at launch and climb RPMs as the speed climbs, of course the secondary helix angle/spring also has some control over that also. My experiance mirrors that, mine pulls 11,300 from 0-60 and creeps up to 11,500 at 80

Sorry, meant the curve of the arm.
I just can't wait to see 80 on the dream meter.
I use a gps in my backpack to confirm things but believe it or not my dream meter is spot on.
Well hoping secondary is ready today. All other parts I picked up yesterday.
Pile of nice snow yesterday too with some strong north winds!!! I'll be able to test on groomed and soft.

Maybe they fixed the dream meter in newer phasers, mine is way off. 82 is 75gps And completely wound out on an ice road 92 was 83gps and that was out of clutch and touching the limiter @ 12,200

I think with the 8t 19/41 set up it dialled itself in. My older 07 phazer does 130-135 on the dream meter. Never gps'd that one but it does pull away from my xtx.

Anyone on.....need help. @blueironranger @MikeWalters @Voda2000
I thought the sheave would have been marked with 1-2-3 for the wrap.
Helix has the numbers.
How do I know where to set the spring in the sheave??
