yes I think it has the thin washers. BTW, why did you use new bolts?jake151 said:Hi, My recomendation is to put 3 new bolts and the thin shim washer, that's how I set mine up. This way will help it when you put it in reverse mine works excellent. The part # for the bolt is 90105-06731-00 the .5mm shim is what you need and the part number for that is 90201-061H1-00-00. Your secondary probably has the thin shim washers in it. The bolts are about 99 cents each and the shims are about the same. I hope this helps everyone.

Because they wear out. Take one out and see if the bolt is worn down to the threads if so replace it. Becarful went you take them out, if they come out real easy your ok. If not just work them back and forth and they will come out. Have a good day

Update on YVX secondary and Hauck Magnum Power Shift Roller Kit and am tickled pink with the results. Pulls like I never thought the Phazer would pull. The only other mods are clean air and Aaen pipe. An example would be a 2 stroke 500-580 class like my wifes 1996 Arctic Cat Mountain Cat. Enjoy reading and the link below from me and Tbyrd.

Thanks - good tip, I'll check them. I noticed that the plate on the inside of the clutch that they touch against is worn some.jake151 said:Because they wear out. Hi if it's worn real bad you can remove the three #3 phillips screws and turn it over. Have a good day.

Looks like I might have to take on this project
New circlip broke and it took everything out.
I got to decide if I go with stock for a quick fix and get back on the snow or try to find a secondary that fits.

New clip broke eh - 1st I heard of that - they are a real pain in more ways than one! . I think there is a right way to install them as well - all the best in your search. Was your clutch all stock?

Yea, I always put in a new one when I take it apart. This one had about 300km's. Kind of a bummer after driving 2 hrs then riding less then 10 km's and it broke.
I had a clutch kit in the primary and secondary was set to B2. I don't think it had anything to go with it as I have had the kit for over 5000km's and its got a few new circlips gone in since.
I wish there was an aftermarket kit that I could buy with a different set up. I just want to get it fixed fast!
I am sure it took out my bearing as well. the seal was torn apart, the bearing housing also seemed to have taken a beating. I have not gotten a good look at it.
I am glad someone on an Apex stopped and had the right size wrench so I was able to take the clutch off (Thank you!) and get towed back to my truck.
I don't have any tools to really help me with machining so I am not sure where I will go from here. I also don't want to deal with tuning, it was running perfect before. If it was the off season I would have time to look at finding a clutch but I'll have to think about it.

Yeah bad luck for sure. If you can find the right secondary there would be no need for machining - the one from a 96 VMax 600 fit perfectly on mine I can't quite remember but I think I was even able to use the bushing that came with it and a longer bolt was needed.

I was looking at the part diagrams for the 96 Vmax 600 and it looks like it uses a circlip behind it as well? Could you clarify that for me?

cannondale27 said:Nice!A old Vmax 500 reverse secondary doesnt require any machining except for the spacer but they are very hard to come by.

This may help.

Hi, Some 94-96 v-maxes used YXR or extra ratio secondary which is the similar clutch that is on the 07-13 phazers and some had the YVX secondary or reverse secondary
Boy that sucks.I wonder if this was always a problem with the clip on the old sleds?

I am tickled with the YVX roller secondary on my MTX. Super quick upshift and smooth no jerk backshift. After much clutch testing I settled on a 39 degree helix doing mostly back country riding. The roller probably makes it around a 43 degree helix. I would like to get with some other Phazers riders and see what the true difference is.
