Tune reliability

That why I think you need an exhaust work to get that grunt down low, regardless of the tune.

Want to give an update. Talked with Dave from hurricane and since I live on a lake he talked me into 270 ss pm tune. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet but looks like I’ll be getting that one.He said for the extra 150 or so from the 240 it would be the better bang for the buck. Thanks for all the info. I’ll probably order through thunder since Tim and Terry did my clutching and they’ll have to give me the new setup. Dave was fine with that.
You will not be disappointed... the 270ss will blow your mind..lol.

Hopefully it doesn't scare the sh*t out of me. I have time to decide on which one but pretty sure going with the 270. Just don't want issue's that might be the deciding factor between the 240 and 270. Better on the belt and less power with the 240. I did forget to ask about gearing does it have to be changed for the 270?

In my opinion, if I was going to go with one tune, it would be the 240 ss, Stock OR trail muffler. That tune is closer to 250 and when you start to get up in the higher HP tunes other factors come into play. Shortening the barrels on the clamps, intake air temps get higher faster, You need a new B/O valve, boost leaks become more apparent.
Dont get me wrong, 270 and 300 are fun but it brings in a new level of maintenance.
That 240 flash is impressive, set it and forget it, pump gas, no octane worries.

If your sled has those issues you listed it doesn't matter what tune you have you still have issues.
Mine had issues in stock form.

I could not agree more...the 240ss tunes will run on 87...flash it, forget it, and run it like a stock sled.

The lower tunes the issues are not as pronounced but still there. Fix them and your tune will be better.
It's true that these sleds have some issues in stock form also, no doubt about it. But these tunes are adding the equivalent(or more) of what the 570 exciter had for horsepower in 1987. There is another level of stress added.

I hear what you are saying but the 240 is more of a plug and go tune IMO.
What leaks at 18 psi might not leak at 15 psi. I speak from experience.
I believe the 240 tune to be a more consistent tune. Higher tunes heat the incoming air up faster making back to back to back runs difficult. That turbo is really beating the air up at higher pressures.
Just my opinion.

I like my 270ss with quiet trail muffler single tune, otherwise I'd be messing with it all the time, so far it's fast as hell, not eating belt's (thanks to thunder products clutching for machining my secondary) and gets 14-15 mpg on 91oct
I like the idea of plug it and forget it. You guys are very helpful

The 240ss tune has a tone of boost down low then less boost on top end just to keep it at the advertised hp level. I have seen over 17 psi boost on the 240ss tune. Thats why its the super spool.
