?
I've wondered this myself. In the 4k miles I put on the Nytro, I've never had the temp light come on. And I've done more riding then I like to admit in -20F temps.
It'd be interesting to set up a poll to see who has chronic overheating issues, and whether they've got a trail tank or not. Not sure what other variables would be worth tracking, maybe majority on-trail vs off-trail riding....

Most that are over heating have trail tanks.....they are very close if not right on the rad ...my buddy had a 09 nytro like me and he had the trail tank and was always seeing the light put stock tank on and was good.....just doesn't get the air flow through it like it should no air flow no cool....

i still a lack in heat exchager size. and trailtank doesn't have any thing to do with ice build up under tunnel

I didn't add any heat exchanger I'm all stock and never overheat ....ride in dirt some times and some times in very cold temps too this week been 0 to -4 and colder
Just saying most of the people that have the problems have trail tanks ...something to look at......

I don't think the Trail Tank is to blame. I had the problem before installing the bigger tank. I can't explain why some don't have the problem but their are plenty of Nytro's running hot regardless of which tank they run. Maybe it's a variation in the tolerance of the temperature sensors. Just to clarify, most of the Nytro's with this problem don't actually overheat, the temperature light comes on which means they are running hot but are not overheating....Yet!

I must say I really like that rear heat exchanger ......
What if some one would put that rear one in and get some Togo where the protectors are with the front .... Could you take the rad right out ( I think Polaris made tunnel heat exchangers that were protectors at the same time) been thinking about this

Mountain Performance sells a tunnel exchanger and rad delete kit that does just that...if you have an XTX or MTX.

I have had the light come on once (at idle)and the engine shutdown(@150 miles on engine) Have 600 miles now and have not had a light since. Been riding in marginal snow at 40 deg f and powder @-4 deg f. Lots of ice in the tunnel when cold. Love this sled once I got the suspension right.

I'd be concerned why the fuse blown. If you haven't shimmed the radiator I'd get that done. It's possible the fan blade hit the tank and stopped it from spinning causing the fuse to blow.

I don't have a trail tank and I've had light-on several times on warmer days with or without snow. on cold days when I let it idle. I put a 3/4 spacer behind the radiator and put vents in nose and on top right in front of tank. I can feel a lot of hot coming out of them when my fan kicks in. this year, I ripped out my tunnel protectors and installed the oft close-off plate in hopes of eliminating ice build up. I only have 35 miles on so far this year , and am still seeing high water temps of 185-200. and it's been really cold in ND!

I'm still thinking of putting in a tunnel cooler, but will probably make my own that goes down one side and back on the to keep ice build up even. I forgot to mention on the worst day last last year, it seemed like airflow made the biggest difference. the difference between the light coming on or not on a decent day (30-40° day) with lots of fresh powder was hood on or hood pulled off. that's why I put the new vents in.
