Hard for me to imagine you can get proper RPM with that much weight and that secondary spring with the XS belt. I'm running the same weights empty and just getting 8750 on the BIG tune. But its going to depend on your primary spring, secondary helix and setup as well. Every sled is going to be different somewhat. Knowing what I know now, I'd say you will be running them empty yes, but I don't know what you have for a primary spring so don't really know.
What is your wide open RPM with that much weight in it now? If its low, which I suspect its going to be, take out the weight until you get 880o or so. I used to pull much more weight than that using Yamaha belts and stiff secondary springs of course. Now with the XS belt and light springs those base weights are a size too large really.
Well its stock primary spring in 18 Ltx se cant remember what color it is with just dtay1 loaded. Secondary dalton blck/orng spring at 6-3 with heavy duty rollers. I have nothing else done not even studded yet until this weekend. It has all necessary gear for ss sm tune bundle except cai. I have not yet to hold open quite yet with the new belt broke in so I will be checking. I did give a couple gradual pulls up to 90 mph with a and seen 8600 in loose condition but time will tell might just empty and back secondary spring. Is there any down fall with changing secondary fro. 6-3 to 6-1.

Better way to fix the coil bind is take .050" off the helix and .050" off the inside of the clutchThanks Mike,so you are very similar to stock springs, and cam, even your Dalton blk/brz is close as well. So only change is the dtya-1 ramps empty,is this on your 270 hp tune? Now the stock winder yellow at 5.53 # of coils don't bind in stock cam? Or did you relieve something to achieve no coil bind...add .060 thou shim to cam? Mike where are your shift rpms w/this set up? I have that 825 belt from last year, with around 1000 miles on it,and it still look new,and it is broken in nice,i will play with that first, and may give stock type clutching a chance, its worth a shot. Thanks for all your great info,as always a stand up man. Pete

There is no coil bind on the stock Yellow at 3&3. No need to worry about it. Just don't wrap it any tighter because then there is bind.

Nothing wrong with that setting. It’s not to bad! Lol. I tried 3/3 and just kept going up until it stopped slipping. At 6/1 it was good. 6/2 better and settled at 6/3. It shifts. I may back it down some and see but it hits hard and sits at 8850.

I found that you have to break that XS Belt in. Used it this past weekend on my new TAPP and Pro 4. It was pulling good R’s but didn’t seem to have the oomph like Marc said. But After about 70-80
Miles it was waking up big time. Seems to be getting better with some miles.

Just pulled my secondary and cleaned both clutches. I dropped a new XS in and went from 6/3 on the TP orange to 6/1. Set my 911 cover sheave clearance on primary and secondary OSP adjuster and ran it on the stand. The belt would sit 1/4 under secondary on letting off throttle. Lol. Had to laugh some. These baby’s are sticky. It’s new and I backed off tension. I might just go back to 6/3 and see what it does on the stand. Now it is a new belt and on a stand. So it doesn’t mean a lot but thought it was interesting. When I was at 6/3 that belt came to the top every time on the stand or on a trail. Even brand new belt. Just somee observations thought were interesting. Take it with a grain of salt at this point. I will try 6/3 and see what happens on the stand.

It seems stupid to say....but it seems to be true-it definitely needs to be broken in. It’s almost like you flip a switch with it at a certain point, and wham it’s a totally different feel!

yes , last season a friend of mine wanted to try the xs belt on his zr9000 with stm clutches , he had it clutched at 8900 and still the sled had lost mph , and then switched back to a cat belt and gained all his mph back , I totally agree the xs belt needs breaking in for sure , 100 miles of trail riding , I used the xs belt on my srx last season with great results and mph was good also , 130 plusIt seems stupid to say....but it seems to be true-it definitely needs to be broken in. I was like WTF when I first got out on my sled??? Where’s all the speed? As I said R’s were fine but the speed was down. Drove it for about 60 miles before I noticed a difference. It was hard to believe that a belt would have that effect, but it kept improving. Certainly Weird.

TAPP Was cool as can be. Pro 4 secondary was warm, but could keep hand on it.
Could have been your speed loss right there. Hot secondary with too much tension and you're scrubbing speed.TAPP Was cool as can be. Pro 4 secondary was warm, but could keep hand on it.

Perhaps back off on the wrap a bit? Don't want to lose too much backshift though??
