Warning, -16 late build Viper turbo breakdowns, bad rods.

just bought a 16 ltx se and was told by the dealer i can put the turbo on with warrenty still.... how do i know
if my sled is a early or late build ?

The new cp pistons will be 9.5-1 compression
Will you test the engine with just the rod replacement? Just to test the new crank and piston ?

We already have tested the pistons to 300hp with no issues. The crank will have no trouble making power

Got it. I just have always had really good luck with CP and their rings. Could always tell they were much harder than JE or Wiseco when filing the gaps bought a grinding wheel just for that reason. Files barely would touch them. No biggie though save some cash this way too.

yay i got a late 16! first yamaha i have owned and i already have a bad taste in my mouth, i emailed the guy from my dealer, first he has heard of an issue with installing a turbo on a 16, when i went into the dealer i wanted a new left over 15 ltx se they had in stock, he talked me into the 16 for near the same price as the 15.... and i asked if next season i want to have the turbo installed would it be possible and still maintain all my warrenty, he said yes, now what do i do? i guess i wait to hear a resolution from yamaha... i put 65 miles on my sled yesterday, very happy with it, do i need to worrie about this rod issue on a stock sled? my 2 buddys who talked me into going yamaha from skidoo have 15's and they just finnished there mpi turbo install, not going to enjoy seeing there snow flap all season lol
