What tune do you have on your 2013 kitty, because if all stock there is no way that sled will ever see 128 speedo oor otherwise,i had the same year cat turdbo, with a stage 4 TD tune on map two which was suppose to be 245-250 hp it was only ever hit 115 gps,and the speeds of them demo sleds were all running between 122-124 and some had gps to varifie,I am only passing info on,but my 15 xtx ape is so much faster than any sleds we ride with, its not even close, and it has only gone 111 gps on not so good conditions in trail.I beg to differ here and if I may, would like to share my 5 cents.
I traded a 2013 f1100 sno pro 129 for a rtx se 129. The reason I went 129 is because in my experience when comparing cats, the 129 in my testing has been faster topend. My cat had a D & D stage 1 quiet pipe (10 hp), the front clutch shimmed, and a 52/38 helix. I raced various cats of different track lengths and setups and beat them all. From a dig in powder, the longer track will get the holeshot, but at 75mph I pass them. On the hard pan, my short track was very competitive on holeshot and then would walk away.
My brother has 12 apex xtx bone stock. We raced dozens of times and my 129 would pull him lowend, midrange and topend. And it should as the cat made 25 more horsepower.
I have a friend with a viper 137, hurricane turbo, pipe clutched, geared, which he states makes 190hp. Many races and my 129 cat would pull more topend mph.
My obsessive compulsive disorder requires me to purchase the absolute fastest sled made, so I bought 129 rtx se based on my findings.
Two weeks after my purchase, my dealer informed me that there would be demos at his shop: Garys Yamaha Caribou. Even though the deal was done, I went over to drool over the new sleds. While talking to the rep, he informed me that the 137 sidewinder was faster than the 129. My heart sank as I already committed to a 129. Then he went on to say that the 141 was faster than the 137. I said, "Your kidding me!!!" He said nope....."The longer the track, the faster the sled goes." So I said, "The fastest sled here is the MTX 162?" And he replied, "Yes, the longer the track, the faster the sled." I thought hmmmmm someone doesn't know what he is talking about.
I left and went home to find my trusty 2013 turbo sno pro still in the garage. (Dealer asked me to store it till fall.) I fired it up, took it to the rail bed and did two runs back to back at 128 on speedo. Sidewinder 137's claim 124 speedo. I reached out to my cat dealer for his opinion and asked which track length in his experience was faster. He told me 129 and stated you'll never get a 137 up to 128mph on the speedo without a programmer.
These are my findings and opinions and thought I'd share.

If one decides to put a tune in these 998 turbos a 137 is the only way to go. Otherwise I'm all about shortys even though I ordered a 137.
Maybe I will have to stay studded down the middle and add Curves with shapers to get it to turn in the tights.

My buddy has a 2016 zr9000 129 with 250 hp and the sled is a rocket. Yes it spins out of the hole but with good studs it flies. 118 in a 1000 ft on radar. The 129 will definitely be more squirrely than the 137. That is something I will probably miss on the 137 is how stable it feels. Never did I get a nervous feeling on my 137.

LTX-LE in blue with 4th wheel kit and 144 studs. If the survey is any indication of which model will be the most ordered I may have to change some body graphics to find it at the local sled friendly watering hole.

Looks like there is gonna be alot of them. Still not gonna have a hard time finding my sled in my riding area, Dominated by Polaris Pro-X and Doo XRS, XC wannabes. Really dont see a lot of Yamaha maybe the sidewinder will fix this

SledFreak thanks for all the info. I think I will try to change my order. Think 129 will work best, lots of tight trails in Upstate NY.

I ordered Black/Red LTX DX, I think I'm one of the few but I'm not 25 so I wanted more windshield and just ride groomed trails anyway. Do love the thought of all that power. Wish I could hear one run. Anyone know if someone posted a sound clip?

Good discussion on track length here. I too was very torn. I've owned RX1 Turbos, 3 Apex Turbos in several track lengths and - Z1 Turbo Cat with TD 4 stage. I've also drivin for several miles the 137 Procross Cats with TD tunes. The one thing all the 137s had in common is they just don't transfer like a 129 nor do they corner like one. Sure they might "bridge the gaps" better and are slightly more planted, but that's where the advantages end for me. The 129s are so much more fun to ride on the trail. Another thing to consider is when studded correctly, and I mean Triggers or Hornets (now called INS fat head ice studs) the 129 because it transfers better, will also hook up better in the kind of conditions I line up in. Loose snow, I'd give the nod to the longer foot print. But the real beauty here is we all have opinions and Yamaha built us sleds to match those opinions. The bottom line for me is the 129 is a much more fun platform for the trails I ride, and it transfers weight like I want it to. My group is full of 800 Poos and Doos and there isn't any way a 137 will hang in the tight and twisties with those light weight 2 strokes. Hell, I'm not sure the 129 Sidewinder will either but I'm sure as hell going to try.

Another reason to try and change my order! Thanks Mighty for the help. Problem being, I am on vacation and don't get home until 4/30.
