Well My first yamaha was Enticer 2. She got 21000km now and haven't spent $100 dollars in parts on her and she still runs like a clock. So I bought a venture TF. So when you get your first machine to last like that, why would you go with anything else.

My old AC dealer's finance dept tried to pull a fast one on me with interest rates on a new quad...told the owner I would never step foot in his dealership ever again...Buddy had a good connection with the local Yamaha dealer so when my ZR9 went down I bought my XTX...liked the idea of 4 stroke reliability.

To be honest I had no interest in yamaha at first. My first sled was a cat and it was nothing but trouble and was looking into a doo. The dealership was not taking me seriously since i was a kid (actually told me to come back with my parents before getting into a deal!) so i walked into the yamaha dealership and they gave me a great end of season deal.
Could not be happier with the value of my phazer. I don't mind changing slides if it means i can always ride and don't have to wait for parts.

I will only buy yamaha for my wife.Trading her attak for 2012 power steering 144...I ride in the mountains, and off trail..my son loves it too..A 2-smoke off trail will take many years before you need to do the motor..and its only WOT for a short time..unlike a trail sled on a lake or long straight trail..this kills the 2-smoke..but makes the yammie shine..keep the 4-strokes on the trail..and the light easy to play with 2-smokes in the mountains..Love my S.C. yammie..but sweat like a dog to play with it..my son is 6-4 and 260..me 5-10 and 190..who do you think can ride the heavey mountain yammie, and still walk to the car..need to be a big guy to counter the weight..going to miss turnning that key..
Hello RMK PRO 163, 2012

What is wrong with the Warrior???
prusso said:I have Had many Yamaha vehicles Banshee, R1, xvp Warrior Rx1 warrior exciter, sxr, viper. I am sad to say my latest on the RX 1 has dissappointed me from a reliability stand point so much so I had to buy a Viper just so the season would not be wasted. I had 1 Cat F7 03, 2 Ski doos 670 Mach and MXZ, I must say the Yamahas with exception of the warrior were great.

My $.02, Yamaha engineering I believe is superior to their competitors. The Yam sleds 'feel' rock solid - you know you're riding quality. The reliability is excellent, I've had less down time & disapointments w/Yams compared to other brands, whether it be sleds or my FJR1300. Yam products seem to last longer than competitors as well.
Yam sleds are heavy & tippy. These are the unfortunate trade offs for Yam quality.

I can only dream one day a sled will have the yamaha drivetrain and the chassis/suspension of a doo.
Looks like doo really wants to get the 900 4tec turbo out there. If do starts making 4strokes like yamaha I think we might be down to 3 manufacturers in less than 10 yrs

I don't know how to say this without starting a fight or insulting your intelligence. But. No

Well, if they did that, why would Yamaha then make sleds..? Yamaha is the only manufacture that most of the parts themselves, in-house. No wonder their reliability is the best. However, they need to learn a thing or two on chassis/suspension and weight/power ratio.

I got my first sled when I was 16, my father bought me the Exciter 570, a '93 model if I remember correctly. It was great, never had an issue other then regular maintenance. Once I sold it the new owner blew the engine... Don't know why/how.
After that I bought a '95 Thunder Cat 900 Mountain. I tried a friends on the river and man that thing pulled hard!! I was sold by the power immediately. But the reliability was crap! The dealer was great but since the factory couldn't send the correct parts it doesn't help...
The sled was in the shop for 2 months in the middle of the riding season!!
I sold it the year after and bought a '06 Vmax 600 ST, and it has run like Swiss watch!! I don't ride much each season because I live so far away from the sled (and where you actually can ride), but it has 7000+ km so far on it and it has never broken down or needed any repair. Changed belt, topped up oil (a lot) and gas, and it runs very time! I have now sold this sled to my cousin so he can enjoy the sled and get out on trips in Easter.
I bought last year my first 4-stroke. And man do I love the engine. It's a '06 Vector Mountain. Bought it used from a friend how bought a 2010 Ski-Doo Summit 600 (this is the sled where the rubber straps that holds the hood looked like they were 20 years old after just 3 months).
I plan to keep this sled for another 10 years, unless Yamaha launches a 900-1000cc 2 cyl, 4-stroke 120+ hp lightweight mountain sled
I've been a Yamaha guy since I was a kid, and will buy and ride Yamaha as long as they make sleds. I watch Yamaha race in road racing, AMA supercross and everything else Yamaha competes in.

For me this explains it. I now have 19200 miles on my apex.
Some money has beenm spent on wear items and some on not so much wear items like stator for code 12, y pipe, oil tank.
But I would not get away so lucky money spent to the amount of miles with any other brand.
