where is the info on the new Yamaha race sleds?

To watch something that is being tested back and forth in a ditch with hardly any snow next to a corn field doesn't exactly inspire a whole lot of confidence. Why don't they post a video of it being tested at ERX taking jumps and slamming whoops since durability has been a huge issue with their "race" program.
It is a very low snow year in the midwest. That is all the snow they could find. A big storm just went through there finally giving them some snow, but it has been a lot warmer and drier that it normally is.

I couldn't tell if the front end was just a-arms or a subframe too. The spindles are relaxed a lot (tilted back) and it looks like the a-arms are different as there is a brace on the lower a-arm that is not on the normal sleds...

Cool stuff and thanks for the link srxspec!!!

There is a very good chance it uses a new subframe since the shocks are angled back like a Polaris IQ/Rush. In the past they modified stock subframes by moving the upper shock mounts. The approach they are taking is good. A longer track with help with stability. The subframe could also be longer to increase the wheelbase or they used forward swept a-arms. Probably a combination of the two since they've had prototypes of these front ends for at least 4.5 years.

Moving the rider more rearward will help for high speed running but it looked like the steering post is at the same awkward angle so it is a compromise when it comes to tight trail running and sawing the bars back and forth.

Now that two USCC races have been cancelled this must be their way to try and draw attention that they are doing something. Trouble is, how many photos have we seen over the years that show trick stuff that never makes it into production? A lot!

If they made this new front end available as an aftermarket add on, and available on the 2013 sleds, would you buy one?

Ruffryder,
If they offer it as OEM for '13 or as a GYT-R part kit I will seriously consider buying one.

They cannot run this front end or the sled shown in the video in stock class.

Surprised no one noticed the different subframe. If Allen took the picture it was a very strategic one because he's hiding a lot ;)!

in that picture, what looks like it is hanging down the side of the tunnel in 5 different spots?

Tunnel brace. You can buy those from Yamaha.

You can tell that the subframe is different from that pic? Just looks like the steering is in the same place and it is still black. That is all I can tell.

I also noticed tHenrear end being different. On a normal nytro the track ends before the end of the tunnel. This one does not..[/qu

Looks like the entire rear skid has been moved back.

yep skid moved back 3" for a 128" track.... look at the pic on the trailer... you can see both front and rear mounting holes... and of course new upper and lower control arms as well as new spindles.

Unofficial results of the Pro Open class is Ross Erdman on his FX Nytro takes the win!

Sweet!!! Way to go YAMAHA!!!

You have any unofficial results of the front end and subframe? lol Crap, just looked at the pictures closer, man those a-arm attachment points are pretty wide. It has to be a new subframe for that!!
