Which ice scratcher

I have had 3 different styles of ski mounted ice scratchers. The ski mounting location maximizes the quality of ice particles that into the track without being offensive to the trail and to those that follow you. The trapped coil style created the most consistent line but would not survive reverse operation. The Duraflex scratchers bounced all over and would bend and not keep down pressure. My latest small wire scratcher comes from Ski Doo and uses the coil to keep consistent down pressure and to accommodate reverse operation.

Done.....lol

I just sold my BRP adjustable riser yesterday, so that PP payment just arrived, so it comes in, and it goes out..lol

Will post more later in season when I mount them.

Thanks again for the great info!

Forum comes to rescue once again!
how did these work out for you dan?

I ordered some of these to test. They work ok, however I was not overly impressed. Lots of slop in the design makes it tough to keep down pressure. If rib thickness is not real thick on the ski such as the 14 cat ski i have on my winder I found the rib would flex and minimize the ability to maintain down pressure. I was drawn to the ability to stow them, however I also was not able to stow them up on the ski. Stationary they would stow, but there would be interference when suspension cycles and ski turns.

I still like my ski mounts with cables best. In pursuit of a simple way to stow them up better on skis that don't have tall saddle sides I will now be testing this simple set up. All that's required is drilling a hole in the side of saddle.

Interesting idea. Let us know how that works. Simple enough. If we ever get snow I have bought two coupling nuts that I will thread onto the carbide bolt that comes up through the ski. I then have a threaded hook into the other end with two nuts to back down on the coupler to hold it tight. The hook holds the end of the scratcher. Looks like it will work pretty good just a little clunky as the carbide bolts are 3/8th's.

Never was a fan of cable scratchers but tried a set yesterday, this is how they ended up after three miles on rough snow . Worst part was the best the hell out of the top of rails.

The best you can get is Ibexx !! A company out of southern Idaho! They work in reverse and are just great on my BTX.

Cables mounted on the inside of the skis worked amazing for me. Sled went from overheating to running 4 degrees cooler than normal operating temp!
Good to hear falcon, that is what I got from barn of parts.

Yep, my set that I got from you really work well once you take some time to get them turned just right so the spray is directed under the front of sled.

Put them on last season and so far flawless. I just used an eye bolt STOW for my Curve skis.
