Me too, would have liked to take one for a rip.
The demos were:
Sidewinder xtx se in blue and white with non coupled skid, 15x141x1.6 cobra track, and fox floats all around. The handle grips on these sidewinders appear thinner/smaller. Although they seem to be more comfortable, the demo had 1300 miles on the odometer and the right handle grip was torn. I hope this is not a sign of things to come.
The other demo was XTX LE in red and white. It had 15x137x1.25 ripsaw and had the fox QS3 Kashima coated shocks all around. These shocks are the real deal. Simply changing the clickers from 1 to 3 was very noticeable in the showroom.
Couple things I noticed: Front clutch resembles the clutches of old, however the towers are wider. The secondary sheaves also resemble the older clutches however the helix is noticeably different and now rides on 3 rollers. Nice setup!! The weights I was told are 84 grams each and the rear helix is a straight 43 degrees.
Aside from that, fit and finish appears to be up to par. The removal of the hood and side panels are quick, easy, and much better than the older cat/viper configurations of old.
Hope this helps.

Are you sure the QS3 kashima coated were in the rear also? According to the brochures, the XTX rear was different. It supposedly has an HPG back there as well. That was a deciding factor in choosing the LTX-LE instead (along with track, which on the XTX should be a backcountry 1.75. I didn't want that since I would like to stud.) Otherwise, I'm not sure what else justifies the $1k price differential between the 2 models?

No problem, just making sure, expecially since I struggled with the decision of XTX LE 137 or LTX LE. Thanks for the report.Yes, you are right. Rear shock of skid QS3, center shock or front shock on skid HPG. Sorry for the descrepancy.

Yes,i understand john did all he could to try and convince the reps he should be the first to try one out,but they had no part of it,plus I guess the weather was so bad in caribou yesterday with the heavy wet snow, casuing power outages and stuff, you wanted to stay in side most of the time, and I don't even know if they started them up?Oh that's to bad but thanks for the info!!!! Was hoping John would of took one out to test!!!!!!!

Were you able to lift up the sled,to see if it felt much heavier then a standard viper?Me too, would have liked to take one for a rip.

Never lifted a viper so can't compare, but I own a procross 1100 turbo and sidewinder felt roughly same weight. They claim SW is 10 pounds lighter and I believe it, but hard to notice that.
Also, the rep started it several times in the showroom and in my opinion it sounds like a viper/nytro 1050 motor.

I also noticed quite a bit of belt dust on the clutches on one of the demos. Rep stated Sidewinder will take same 8JP belt as viper. Searched this topic on the viper site and read 35 pages on the subject. It appears some viper owners had issues with this belt and changed over to the 8DN. Hope this isn't an issue on the Sidewinder.

My understanding direct from Yamaha was there was no Demos going on at any dealers..just display only.. so if they took these demos out, someone might be in trouble....
