Yamaha RE-tooling for 2020

OK I think I will speculate on what might happen in 2020. First of all Arctic Cat will replace their premium 4-strokes with the Sidewinder and the Viper. Secondly a third premium snowmobile with Yamaha trade names will appear in the Arctic Cat lineup that will be reported to have some Yamaha technology and quality. This third product will be a flagship ($$) and the beginning of a new chassis that is overdue at Arctic Cat. Last year Arctic Cat started selling the VK540. That move insured that Arctic Cat could supply the function requirements of Yamaha customers in other parts of the world. In 2020 Arctic Cat will put Yamaha mystique in their products in order to satisfy the requirements of Yamaha customers here in the USA. This final solution is all speculation and tough to contemplate but it is as possible as anything proposed here.

AC already uses the Sidewinder and Viper, they are called Thundercat, 9000 and 7000.
I doubt they will up the Thundercat to a more 'premium' model. Sleds are already expensive enough and the TC has always been the top dog for them.

Tough to contemplate but I think it is possible that Yamaha will stop selling snowmobiles. If you look at the actions of both companies it is clear that Arctic Cat is being positioned to fill the void. With this end game in mind Arctic Cat has given Yamaha a good supplier agreement. What a great way to pull out of a diminishing market. To fill the void Arctic Cat might rename the 9000 and the 7000 with Yamaha trademarks to help pick up Yamaha customers. The 9000 and the 7000 have not been good sellers for Arctic Cat. To sell to the most loyal Yamaha customers Arctic Cat will need a machine that not only has a Yamaha heart but also a mystery quality that is best described with the word ‘mystique‘. Harley Davidson has been cashing in with this quality for years. This quality can not be measured with test instruments unless one can measure human emotion.
 
Damn DVW, now you have me re-thinking my original comment that there is no way Yamaha will not exist and have a brand new line up in 2020...........way to go!.......lol

TSS front suspension. The most important advance in snowmobiling.
While you're probably joking, now that all the big 4 have the double wishbone, it's time become distinguished again. The DWB has been a nightmare for Yamaha with all the darting issues. I never had a TSS but it had to be better than the DWB in that department. With today's advanced shock technology they could pull off a new TSS that rocks.

This is not a joke. It is the reason I bought my first Yamaha.
 
Like I've said before the TSS front end with today's shock technology I believe would be great in the in between and mountain sled markets! Think of how clean it would run through the deep snow in the mountains! How simple and lite it would be! Am I wrong?

Emotion is easy to measure, it is what drives one to make decisions that fly in the face of logic :)

I doubt very seriously that Yamaha is getting out of snowmobiles.

HD hasn't been cashing in on mystique, what is attractive about HD is pretty recognizable and widely discussed in marketing circles, it is selling apple pie and rebellion to baby boomers. That is why they are failing now as baby boomers are getting a bit old for motorcycles and have moved on to covet comfort over freedom costumes (those are not my words, they are the paraphrased words of a marketing person).

An 06 Attak. I have only ridden Yamaha, I have never actually been on an arctic cat or a Polaris. I rode a skidoo and a john deere for day rides back in the day. I bought the attak as a 'future spare' while we see what Yamaha actually delivers.
 
I think that the winder has major issues with servicability and hard steering and in my opinion this is the direct result of 2 different companies building it. What has to be taken apart to change the engine and chaincase oil is ridiculous and not a good long term practice to keep taking these things apart. I honestly dont know what I'm going to do when my XTX wears out. I keep looking at Ski Doo thinking this may be my next move since Yamaha sleds are no more. Incidentally my wife loves her tuner skis on her vector!
