I do not need snow to know that the Yamaheater will keep my hands warm under any conditions.
As hot as my grips get at idle I have no doubt that I will only need to use the Yamaheater when first starting out and maybe just ocaisonally during the coldest of rides.
I can not imagine ever needing the Yamaheater on the entire time during even the coldest of rides, but it is nice to know that you always have the option.

I have read 46 page and still don't get it.
Does the Yamaheater only work at full heat?
If i set hand warmer at middle with Yamaheater on will it help keep my hand warmer temp and reduce 80/20 marge at 90/10 to keep them warmer?
Will it help with ECU cut each time i apply the brake in middle setting or only at full heat?
Please explain more how it work.

The Yamaheater only functions when you turn your factory control to off. When you turn down the factory control to zero bars on the display that is the only time when the Yamaheater can function. (with the exception of during Sled Start operation with the interconnect).
Factory "off" becomes hotter than hell! All other factory settings are completely unchanged. Therefore if you want the grips "off" you can either set the factory control to one bar on the display (which is practically off) or you can flip the Yamaheater toggle switch to off for true 100% off.
I plan to use the Yamaheater only at the start of the ride or after a pit stop to get the bars fully heated and then go to whatever factory setting is needed to keep my hands warm. If the bars are fully heat soaked when you start you will probably be able to keep your hands comfortable with the factory settings.

Rock, I was just wondering. I just purchased an 09 Vector LTX GT and I was wondering whether my hand warmers are sufficient or do I need the Yamaheaters?
I have a 92 Polaris 500 Classic (3400 mi)and these hand warmers are very good. Any advice would be appreciated. By the way, I am in Newfoundland, Canada.

Hey Dude!
Blue Dave is correct, The YamaHeater ADDS a High Heat setting that actually works! (Think of it as a 8 bars setting.)
The High Heat setting replaces your current "off" setting.
As Dave mentioned, with just the factory settings you usually start out every ride cold now, and by the time the grips start to get any heat at all, you are already froze & the grips can never (or rarely) "catch up".
With the YamaHeater, you run the grips in the new High Heat setting and when your hands are warm enough (they will be warm pretty quick, almost instant), turn the grips down to somewhere in the 4-7 bars range.
(You will find a setting that works about perfect for the riding conditions.)
Surprisingly enough, although the stock ECU settings are un-changed, the stock settings can usually keep up, ONCE YOUR BARS AND HANDS ARE WARM.
(The stock settings don't have to try to "catch up" with the heat losses AND still gain heat, so you don't notice the ECU cuts. The thermal mass of the bars already being heated up in the High Heat setting help with this.)
The YamaHeater makes it so you start out every ride with Warm Hands and continue to enjoy the ride with warm hands.
All controlled by the existing Blue Handwarmer Control Switch on your bars.
It sounds funny, however in actual practice it works very well and is very easy to use.
The 90/10 safety margin is on an absolute worst case sled where everything in the entire electrical system is at maximum worst case.
The odds of getting such a sled are incredibly slim and even of you had one, the only time the margin is that slim is at idle.
Hope this helps!

Hi sjspat!
Some of the Vectors are nice and warm, and some are as cold as can be.
Best test is start your sled in your garage, set the grips to full blast & wait.
By the time your temp light goes out for the engine, your bars should be pretty hot.
If they don't get warm in your garage, they certainly won't get warm in the cold!
Here's to your grips getting nice & warm!

I would just like to say Kudos’s to Rock, he stuck with me though 20 emails to get the deal done. I had to use a visa gift card through Pay Pall to get the order in and the system rejected it.
Long story, but it was all about spending money on sleds without the wife knowing about it. (We have all been there right?) So Rock and Allen Ulmer we able to process the Visa gift card through each other’s business.
Now that is dedication and teamwork to help a fellow sledder get the things he wants and needs without my better half being the wiser.
PS: Shipping was fast and prompt from both Rock and Allen. Allen sent me the Oilite bushing kit in 3 days from US to CAN. I have also ordered the Oilite steering arm kits from OFC, we will see how service is from them shortly.
Final note: I have had nothing but the best service from all parties mentioned above including Pioneer Performance.
Thank god for TY and its website, suppliers and users for all of their combined knowledge.
Looking forward to the Manitoba ride. Check out the Website for this TY Ride.

Rock;
You obviously went OVER and ABOVE the call of duty to get me the Yamaheater by today! I have it in my hot little hands, and God willing, it will be installed by noon Friday. I am thoroughly impressed with your dedication to customer service. Something tells me you won't need it, but if you ever need a recommendation, let me know.
Now that I see the unit, it looks pretty straight foward, but we will confirm it all on Friday.
Thanks again for your efforts!

SJS, I am installing the Yamaheater on an '09 Vector GT, so that should tell you something. Wife was complaining, but I was skeptical, so I rode it, and YES, the warmers do not get as hot as you would expect. They are OK for 30 degree days, but when you get below 25, they are not warm.

Your wife? Good grief! Now you will have to explain to a woman how this thing works! Thank god it is so damn simple! LOL
Perhaps Rock can use a marketing campaign similar to Geico Insurance by advertising "so simple even a woman can use it".

Thanks Fusion. Now all I got to do is convince the wife!! She said to me last night: "why do you need this for? You just bought a new machine and you have to buy handwarmers? What is wrong with yours? Now let me ask you, how do you explain this to her because what she is saying is actually right.

Of course your first mistake was telling your wife. However you probably already realize that.
Now you will have to tell her some crap like "warm hands, warm heart", or "the better to touch you with" or some other sensitive bull s#@t!

Since I am running in the extreme red with cash (due to building a house and garage this year) my wife also told me no spending money on the sled! Yes, she was yelling. I told her we needed a Yamaheater (along with Apex bars and Lake Effect riser) to keep her hands warm for her occasional rides. She agreed!
