ZX2 Vibration survey

My sled had less than 500 miles on it when I installed my skid - not convinced the driver is the issue - I'm going for one last ride this coming weekend and I am going to spend some extensive time trying to isolate where this vibration is coming from - I'll report back next week!! ;)!

Where is Jeff he always answered every question when selling last summer this thread is two weeks old and not one post on it from him?

And this thread was started because of earlier complaints with no response for these WEEKS prior!

Sorry to say this but I am glad I waited!

And I was going to go with an Air Wave!

I sent Denis and Jeff a second email on 3-11-08. The first one was on 2-29-08. They simply refuse to even comment on the issue! Horrible customer service! I guess we need to call them directly so they can not avoid the question.

I have had pretty good response time for replacement parts but I am now afraid that will go away too.

What if an arm or rail fails, can you imagine the trouble I would have to go through...

I removed the front wheels and tested for a short ride this weekend. I still need to test it more but I do not think these are the issue. Although the wheels have some pretty major damage due to the track clips. The wheels are split from running over the clips. I will post pictures later.

The vibration is strongest all they way up front in the foot wells. My drivers have over 13,000 miles on them and do show some wear. The edges of the teeth on the drivers are worn down. Could the new approach angle of the ZX2 be causing the track to not ride correctly on the drivers or could they be causing the track to skip?

The people that have no vibration how many miles are on your drivers?
The people with vibration, how many miles?

Just a thought, searching for something as the manufacturer refuses to help.

I will be replacing the drivers and drive shaft during the summer and will not be able to test until then.

New Doo drivers and ZX-2 went in before this season. No vibration in my ZX-2 equipped '03, it rides the same as my stockers did/does.

My 03 has no vibration that is talked about, I have the Ripsaw track and picks. Does anyone with an 03 have it or is just the newer models.

Pictures of the wheels.

Those look like the front inner idlers. Mine are a bit more chunked out than that though.

mdkuni - are those the front wheels and how many miles do you have on them?

Yes those are the very front set of wheels. They have about 3,200 miles on them.

Definitely something amiss on your skid. I have about 2500 km this year and I just looked over my skid. My wheels don't look anything like yours. Mine are a little rounded but that's just normal wear and tear. Even the inside wheels that I had to move to the rear for the 151 set-up look good. I stated earlier that I may have had a small amount of vibration. I seems to have worked it self out. Not sure if the new track and extroverts needed time to set in but it's pretty much gone. Good luck in finding the problem.

I have 9,000 miles on my drivers and 1,400 or 1,500 on the skid. I only notice a vibration when I put more weight on the front of the skid (2 hole down on revolver). Only when hitting bottom of dips does it vibrate mostly as the suspension compresses a bit. When running in 3rd hole down left side on revolver I have little or no vibration. I did also notice that when I tightened the track up from way to loose to Arctic Cat loose the vibration dropped in half when on revolver two down.

I do not like the way the Warrior handles on the groomed trails in hole two but love the way it handles in hole three. Hole two causes ski lift and poor ride. Hole three handles great and rides the best for groomed trail use. Only issues are slider wear on the rear of skid and the skid bottoms on the rear heat exchanger protectors. I'm looking at adding an extra set of wheels and modifying my tunnel to move the heat exchanger up about 2 or so inches. Buddy with Aluminum welder will come in handy.

In my case the vibration seems to be caused by the front of the skid on the clips. Looser the track worse it is. Overtightening the track is not a good idea so carefull how tight you go. I do mine like my Cats and that seems to work. About 1.5 inches of droop. Push with my finger and it doubles.

Hole three allows the front of the skid to come up a bit more and the vibration dissapears. My wheels are fine I have no torn drive lugs as of yet. The more I ride the skid the more I like it.

Those look like my Polaris wheels I had in the rear on my Pro action. Split I thought because of the extra weight put on them from the polaris wheels being a tad larger then the Yami wheels. Hard pack trails and high speeds with lots of weight transfered to the rear. They had about 3,000 miles give or take as well.

I tightened the right hand adjuster by one full turn this weekend in order to try and shift the track to the left. I would say vibration is worse.

EDIT: I changed this post as I found after riding in some different conditions that changing the right hand adjuster made things worse.
