Exactly what I was thinking. Where my tunnel is bent, is along the edge of the drop bracket. If the Timbersled brackets were an inch wider on each side where they attach inside the tunnel, I don't think there would be any issue.
CR brackets spread the stress out on the tunnel MUCH better...
Both the summit xp and the new cat (except for some m8 packages) both have horizontal steering. The pro RMK is the only sled that comes with vertical steering across it's lineup. All the old M Series sleds have vertical steering as well.
The things I REALLY love about my 2012 timbersled skid:
-The coupling system. 10 seconds to turn a knob and adjust how much coupling you want, no need to bust out any tools.
-Strength, the newly designed suspension arms are tough!
The things I don't like about my 2012 timbersled skid...
I want to try the BDX steering post relocator REALLY bad but I had already ordered the OFT relocator when it came out.
Why?
This design will allow your steering column to be 100% vertical. Meaning when you push forward on one side of the handlebars it will go straight forward and the opposite...
Look up the 2010 AK sled build thread. Nikolai and rlcofmn have been tricking their stuff out themselves, no need to buy parts.
I believe the seat is off a little kids kawasaki dirt bike or something that he fabbed up and the tunnel he built himself.
They have two of the nicest/lightest...
haha you may have heard of an uphill turn...but have you ever heard of a downhill turn?
My handlebars are WAY to high but I've got other more important things to resolve first.
Well I probably should have put the build thread for this sled on here rather than snowest but hey what can you do...

The maverick is a piece of junk. You won't realize it until you swap it out. I went the cheapest route possible and bought a brand new attack 20 162" track for $200. Ran it in hillclimb position from day one and I love it. Even with all the negative comments on the Attack 20 track it made a...
Upgrading your track will make a big difference, the I really think the Nytro NEEDS a 162" track to work well in the powder.
The tunnel will work fine with a 162" track. The snow flap has never rubbed on the track on mine.
The cheapest route is to buy a set of rail extensions.
The...
I guess I never really noticed the heavy front end because of my riding weight. This definitely creates more ski pressure but with 270lbs on the back I probably countered the negative effects. I've been watching your endless modifications for this sled and love the ideas, keep us updated!
Pretty sure it would decrease your approach angle... Think of a flat surface, then drop the rear, the front would move up, which in turn reduces the angle the track has to rotate on from the drivers... Right? I dropped my rear mounting point, sucked my limiter straps up, increased the pre-load...
I think guys are taking my posts the wrong way. I love the idea, all of the engineering in place makes sense and they have sufficient testing to make me, and, by the looks of it, all of you buy a set. My previous posts were not hating on the great product skinz put out but I'm broke and in need...
Love the design but let me get this straight...they want around $150-200 more for the kit vs. a timbersled kit but you don't get new spindles?? Seems WAY to expensive when you take that into account!
