2007 Phazer project with my boys

No reverse, then you have the base model. Does it have a fan? Most didn't come with one and Yamaha would install one if the customer complained about overheating.

The crank end broke off? Then it could have been the infamous early production defect of the gear reduction. Surprising that it lasted this long. Check out the engine teardown in the FAQ which shows what happens when they go.

Yes, it does have the fan and when Cannondale stopped over....he was shocked to see that it has most of the upgrades....except for the suspension arm I guess.

Clutching is good now, put in 89A weights, machined for overdrive, Srx secondary with a straight 42 helix (have a 45/41 I will try)

Last night, my oldest and myslef replaced the slides. The slides were through so bad the rails actually have some aluminum gone on the radius of the rails. Time for some hyfax saver wheels.

Got to try the clutching out and stock primary spring, 89A weights bare...the primary engages about 3,500 which is pretty good :) Oldest took the sled for a ride and was carrying the skis for awhile, seems to have quite the power on low end. Oldest said the rpms showed 1170 (guessing this is 11,700?) This is with a 42 straight helix, was on take off and came down to 1100 so that is where I want to be at my finish rpm. Thinking the 45/41 will be the ticket here.

Fan came on after some time idling so I know that is working good.

UPbushman and I will be meeting in Munising this week for my kit to fix my sloppy steering :)

Tonight will be Hyfax saver wheels, hook up helmet heated shield wire and put on the 45/41 helix

Peak hp is at 11,250rpm. Looks like you are very close. I have also considered a multi angle helix, let us know how it goes

Will do Mike :)

I've always been a clutching guru so I really like to get the most out of clutching. And I used the green secondary spring ;) Will try out the 45/41 tonight and report back.

MikeWalters - the 45/41 helix is a hit in my book! For a little 500 this thing takes off like a scared rabbit now! My oldest was on it and even says it made a huge difference going to the 45/41 instead of the straight 42. Rpms are 11450 on take off (somewhat setup hard crusted snow) and from what I saw and what he saw it is right around 11100 :)

I have to get a video of this thing pulling the front end across the yard ;)

Awesome! I might consider a 45/41 this summer! I wonder what it will turn in deep snow? How many degrees are you wrapped on the spring (or what setting 2-2, 3-3 etc)?

I am wrapped at 3-3 right now as I wanted a lot of acceleration on take off. Will have the Phazer in deep snow this weekend, will let you know :)

I am running 50*, green spring, 41* helix and my peak rpm tops out just perfect at 11,300-11,400 range flat out. But low end even with weight added to my primary arms I am still over-revving on take off. Not terrible since I added weight, but still past peak rpm. That's why I was considering the dual angle helix but I dont want to ruin what I have for top out rpm. Maybe something like a 45-40 or 45-39?

Also deep powder I load down to about 10,950 with my 1.5" doo crossover track (which is decent) If I was running lots of powder I might go 60* for it, but overall I am very close to perfect.

Crazy though with my Ulmer primary kit and all the mods I did I was hitting rev limiter LOTS until I swapped out the secondary for a YVX. Must be making good power with the exhaust, intake and PCII.

That is one of my future projects to get a 1.5" track on this Phazer. I'm at 60* wrap and with the 45/41 you would probably be right with me. I had the same issue where it was revving way too much on take off so I went to the 45 start angle. The higher the number the more it works the engine so finish rate of 41* might be the same rpms. Do you have a 43* straight helix? This would be from a stock Viper or Nytro. That would get your rpms down a little on top end and on take off :)

I have a little donation for the project for you Terry. Needs some work but best sounding exhaust ever on a Phazer. 1:2 Aaen. Will have it in my truck. Stop in at work.
