We need to set a time range and it might be just for a drink. The group is coming from all directions and should be arriving at Deer Lodge around 14:00. We plan on doing some riding that afternoon. How about between 18:00 and 19:00? It has been 6 years since I've ridden in this area but the good places use to be The Landing and the VC club.thegrizzly1 said:Saturday afternoon the plan is to be up on Lake Vermillion to meet Swiss Sledder and his group who will be doing a week long tour starting on Sunday through Canada. I will make sure our trail destination brings us near there in the afternoon. Hopefully we can all have dinner together.

I won't be able to make it Saturday. I have family coming into town and we are planning to hit the trails closer to Duluth. Rode the trails up in the Finland/Isabella yesterday and they were great. You all should have great trails next weekend too.

Nicko: I wouldn't count on a lot of boondocking. We may find some drifted in areas on some lake bays.
Swiss: I think 1700 or 1800 would be just fine. I am assuming you are talking central standard time. I'll let you pick. Either the VC or the landing are great places to eat and neither are too far. (within 10 miles of each other.) I left my personal cell # in a previous post. Someone in your group should be able to call and give a heads up of where you are at.
Everyone: Please try to give me an idea of when you will be arriving. As of right now, I don't see much interest/availability for a Friday AM ride. Please try and let me know what day and time you expect to arrive. Thanks.

Nick & I are going to drive up Friday after I get my kids off to school. My daughter's school starts at 9:15. We'll be staying at my mother-in-law's cabin on Side Lake. I'm thinking we'll go to the cabin, unload the sleds and turn on the heat an ride into town on the Chisholm spur. I'm not sure how long it takes to get to Chisholm from Side Lake on the trails... (I'm guessing 35 or 45 minutes). So we can probably get to the "Iron Man" by 2:30 or 3pm at the latest. We'll see.

If anyone is going out for a ride Friday afternoon let me know what time, I'll head over that way.

I am pretty sure Bluestar and his son are driving down from Winnipeg this afternoon. We have made plans to ride a long day on Friday.
Sleddineinar, we can meet you in Side Lake. We are going to be heading from the Bigfork/Effie area and we would go right through Side Lake anyhow. How about we meet at Bimbo's @ 2:30? I am open to suggestions. I think from there we could take the Taconite to the Laurentian trail and back the Kinney Spur.
Blueironranger, could you get over earlier in the morning? Bluestar and I are planning on heading west in the morning. You are welcome to join us. Otherwise, I would suggest meeting in Side Lake around 2:30? I assume you are familiar with how to get from Chisholm to Side Lake.
Deerlodge, just to be clear I think we were loking at meeting for dinner somewhere between 5:00 and 7:00 at either the VC or The Landing. I didn't plan on having the group up on Vermillion till later in the afternoon.
Once again, my cell # is (218-969-5893) If something comes up, please let me know so we don't have a group waiting on anyone. For Saturday, I plan on rallying in front of the Chisholm Inn & Suites @ 9:00 am. Hopefully the group will be on the trail by 9:30. I'll probablly show up a little early and be in the hotel lobby if anyone has any questions or suggestions.
Below is a pic of my sled. It's the only one like it in the area.
Safe Travels.

How early Friday are you thinking. I know the Side Lake/Chisholm area pretty good.

I'll catch up with you at bimbos around 2:30pm. If the time changes you can catch my cell at 218-290-1861. Takes me just over an hour to get to bimbos from my place in Eveleth.

Just heard from bluestar, his son is ill and they are not going to make it. Do you want to meet earlier?

Let's plan on the VC club between 17:00 and 18:00. It is a little more laid back and normally has a good atmosphere. Tom will probably get kicked out, but then we can post the story and pictures.
I have your mobile phone number noted and will probably call and leave a message Saturday afternoon.
