AD Boivin ZX2 Durability & Performance Log

I fixed my strap on the upper shaft putting two 1" hoses on each side of the strap to keep it from moving out of center. It's all in my turbo garage thread. I thing you're onto something kinger with the strap moving to the side and the bolts loosening and unthreading themselves.

Here are my recent pictures of the skid.

I removed all four pins and replaced them with stainless steel bolts and lock nuts. For anyone wanting to do this a 2" long 3/8" diameter bolt works perfect. This should take care of the pin problem.

As rxrider has done I added rubber hose to keep the limiter strap in place. I did both rods though. The top rod 1" ID works great. For the bottom rod I used .75" hose but used a spade bit to open the hole further as the diameter of the rod is larger then .75".

I almost feel like the hyfax will last forever. I had rode through some rough conditions lately and still do not have track clips and the hyfax has not moved hardly at all if any this year.

Those look like good modifications! Thanks!

You like the 2/4 positon vs the 1/4?

I just added the hose clamps on my limit strap last night to get me through the year. I'll add the hoses next year. Thanks for the picts

Honestly I have never done the 1/4. I love weight transfer though and without studs the higher I can set it the better. I can't see a reason to ever set it for less.

How are the rest of you doing on hyfax wear?

I am wearing 3mm a year and I ride in crap in Iowa and nice stuff up in WI and UP.

I cant get mine to turn on 2/4 just pulls the skis on every turn. 1/4 I get about 3-5" of lift on a drag race but never any on a corner.

I am sure the studs play a huge role in that, not to mention the monster hp you are putting out  I need all the transfer I can get to allow me to hook up without studs. I have no problems at all with pulling the skis in the corners.

I let my hyfax wear right down to the point where I can almost slip the 12mm wrench over it. From that point it has not moved. I would be comfortable until I get to 11mm.

Great ide putting a hose on the lower cross bar as well. Will do it if need be.

Pulled the skid last night as it is time for the track to be replaced. I was glad to feel the shock bushings are still tight. Hopefully that means the rod was not damaged enough to cause a problem.

Some of my wheels are really trashed. Both inner wheels and two outside wheels are in real bad shape. The inner wheels are the worst and they only have 5,000 miles on them. The top wheels and the 8" wheels are still in good shape.

rxrider did you discover why yours got damaged? Were your bearings in good shape?

If anyone can match up AD wheels from another supplier that would be great. It is tough to find the same size anywhere.

I guess the skid have flexed enough for the idler to climb the track cogs. All bearings were still in perfect shape.

I would also like to find matching idlers from the OEMs.

Anyone knows what sliders to get for a 144" ZX-2, the local Doo dealer have a hard time ordering up a set of sliders for his 144" ZX-2. Is it a Profile-8 slide? I can't seem to find a long enough profile-8????????
