Thank you SnoWarrior that helps a lot, with the #s I should be able to get hold of them :)

Another season with the ZX2! Current mileage on this skid is about 11,600.

The skid has been moved to my new to me 2008 Apex. The skid was inspected and am happy to report I have found only wear and tear damage.

The shocks were sent to AD Boivin to be rebuilt. Might have been a bad move, but more on that later. Figured I would give him a chance to inspect them and hopefully they would ride better.

I ordered 18 wheels for the skid! Not cheap. I replaced every single wheel on the skid as they were all pretty much shot with a lot of chunks missing in the wheels. A couple were in ok shape and will be used as spares as well as the remaining 6 wheels. I find the inside wheels get tore up pretty quickly so most of my spares are for those wheels.

Hyfax is still the original hyfax. I removed it this year and replaced it. There is still life on the original but I just don't want to worry about it. How many other skids can go over 11,000 miles on one set of hyfax? Impressive!

Inspected the lower shock bushings and found they were thin on one side. This was due to me not catching the original bushings in time which in turn damaged the rod. I had smoothed out the rod and hoped it was going to be ok but obviously it is not. I ordered a new set of bushings and a new rod. AD Boivin does sell a brass bushing kit, but make sure you ask for it or they may send you the original plastic ones without telling you about the brass ones. Excell is no longer producing those bushings.

I notice some slop in the front swing arm when twisting it on the shaft, but am not too concerned about it.

The durability of this skid has been amazing. Hopefully it continues to hold up.

Great report mdkuni - with your mileage the longevity of the skid is proven. I'm happy I have the skid in my turbo sled. I have seen quite a few turbo sleds around running Monoshock skids having bent and cracked rails. Me and my friends ZX-2 in our turbo sleds are still holding up just fine. We're both on the second set of hyfax, not bad around here (low snow arctic conditions).

Over 13,000 on the skid. Brass bushing kit is now installed. I have been having more ratcheting this year in this sled. My drivers are worn and need replacement as they have about 9,000 miles on them. I brought them over from the old sled since it is a MicroBelmont shaft.

Inspected the skid this Sunday. Found part of my ratcheting problem beyond the drivers. The bottom bolt for the right side rear swing arm was gone. I carry a spare bolt and washer with me in my tool kit so I took the skid out and replaced it. Also went and picked up two more spares for my kit. That bolt has probably not been touched for 5,000 miles. So I am surprised it came out.

The skid is still pounding through the moguls!

How does the Apex RTX perform with a ZX-2 underneat?

I have a 08 RTX as well....I'll never sell my ZX-2 if you're happy with the Apex RTZX-2 :)

Really it is the same sled as my 06 ER. I took the floats off and put GYTR's up front. Moved over the 13mm sway bar from my old sled. Other than the difference in gearing she is basically the same sled. Oh and the motor is fresh! ;)!

Still trying to get the GYTR's nailed down but, the raw power of an Apex + the durability and performance of a ZX2 makes for one awesome combination ;)!

I finally got some miles on the EC mono and yeah I think the Zx2 will just go right in that over teh summer. I'll ride it out this year but its frustrating not being able to jump drifts and ravines with the mono. Its great on the trail chop though. My ZX2 mad the ole rx1 feel so light in the ditches compared to any other skid...maybe it was just me but honestly I prefered it over a rev in the ditches. Amazing what a good skid can do. Glad its holding up well! The loosening bolts is annoying. Had the SAME bolt do that to me and I had to take the front idlers off in the middle and scavange that bolt to get me back the 400 miles I was from the trailer. That was the only issue I ever had on the ZX2 in the 1500 miles i had it on my RX1

theres ton of good information here, thanks guys. I think I'll be buying this suspension for myself over the summer! I just have to get back to to the states to ride it! :o|

I'm just wondering and havent found any definitive info on it really, Have you guys ever considered swapping the shcoks out for a set of ohlins or the new fox evloves?

jameshofo - You won't regret it, it's a tought piece of skid the ZX-2, it's tested by mdkuni, kinger, myself and my friend in our turbo sleds for the last two seasons. Hyfax and idlers worn, bearings still OK.
