I just sucked out all my oil from my tank (Yamcharger has the tank relocated and I didn't use their drain hose system) and I also changed my filter and drained my engine drain.
I put 3 liters of oil into the tank, it's nearly full. I am sure this is nothing unusual, as I've changed my oil numerous times over the years and it's just a matter of not remembering from year to year that this happens!
I cranked over my engine a few times (sled is all apart) and the oil level went down a bit. So I am sure that once it starts up it'll drop down!

So again. Is not the Allen screw at the bottom of the sled the "engine" drain?? If yes, she drained for over an hour. If no, how do I drain the engine?I have to ask but that tank looks to be full to the top. You have to drain both the engine and the tank. If you did not drain the tank and added three quarts to the tank then your about 2 quarts over full. This is not good!
Will the screw not drain the oil tank too?? Just trying to clear my mind of getting all the oil replaced. Again it's my first change at 588miles and shards of metal so I am pretty happy the oil filter seemed "clear" too so I think I did it right
Yes the picture shows an over full tank but before I cycled the engine to move the oil around.

You have to drain the oil tank and the engine. When the oil tank is empty, there is maybe a pint of oil left in bottom of the crankcase that also needs drained. This is the proper procedure in the owners manual.
To properly check oil level after re-fill, wipe dipstick clean and re-insert it into the tank without screwing it in. Remove and check level.
The oil tank should not be completely full like in the picture. You're going to blow out a seal or line once that oil gets hot and expands. You could also blow a line starting the sled on a cold morning with too much oil. I'd hate to see you have a failure on your new ride.

Have you actually run the sled? The oil level should drop.

Remove the drain plug on the bottom of the tank.

there is two drain plugs one on the motor and one on the oil tank if you didnt pull both you may not have removed all of the old oil.

I unplugged the Allen wrench screw at the bottom of the engine. I "presume" the oil from the external reservoir then drained through the connection tunes and fell out if the hole. No?? Is there a separate drain plug on the tank??
When I put the plug back in and filled with two quarta5thsts when it showed full. THEN I cycled the engine and the level dropped enough to put another quart in and still had room at the top if the tank. Did not run it for more than a minute for fear of the oil not cycling the oil. I will try again.
Bottom line: are there TWO drain plugs? ?

I guess I am "okay" with few ounces of left behind oil. I'll have to physically look at the oil tank but I thought there connector hoses that went to the engine block and they flowed downwards.there is two drain plugs one on the motor and one on the oil tank if you didnt pull both you may not have removed all of the old oil.

yes, drain the engine AND the oil OIL TANK!
You may want to also remove the hose fitting too, as it has a screen on it and clean it, especially as you first oil change.

I believe it's more the less a 'dry' sump system, the oil will not flow between the engine and oil reservoir unless the engine is running....

I looked it. It does have a low screw behind the tank pleat so I guess I missed some oil. I guess that's why I would have to have removed the lower cowl too. I never understood why. Now I got it. Couldn't see the screw in a normal stance looking at the sled.
And now I know dry sump too.
I will cycle the engine some more and then check level. I am pretty certain there is right now too much in there I will have to drain some out.
THANKS EVERYONE. Perfect example as to why we are all here.
