I put 1100 miles on both the 8JP & the Gates Carbon this year.
Last year i only got 900 miles per 8JP & 500 on the Carbon.
They both look good, but i just don't want to blow a belt. It's kinda violent! And it SCARES me!
I just wanted belts to last 1000 miles then change them. ACCOMPLISHED!

Ill just take a shot and order that part number, compare new to old and post my findingsYou are correct part # for 17-19 are the same: 8kc-18178-01-00. Perhaps Yamaha changed the roller material and kept same part # ?? Maybe someone else can chime in and explain.
In 17 mine got flat before 500 miles. At the time there was no other choice but to go to the cat torlon rollers, which I did. Im now over 5k miles without issue.
Scratch that ^. Not paying $45 a piece for the updated ones lol

First belt went 680km. It exploded, but it did no damage. Second belt has 4000km and still good. Using 8jp with a little dust.

I think you can get 3 cat torlons for around $75 and they work well.

1,046 miles on my first belt-8JP
Stock 2018 RTX SE
Only trail ridden
I'm experiencing a lot of squeeling, especially when using reverse. Is it because the 8JP is so soft, or do I need a stiffer secondary spring? I need to purchase a new spare, and I'm thinking an 8DN or Ultimax XS825 would be a better choice.

Chances are the squealing is because belt deflection is too tight.

Thanks Fleecer. I ordered an XS825 yesterday. I'll check deflection when I put the new belt on.

I run a tight/snug 825 with a not so tight chain and no gear issues and belt issue are a distant thing of the past but with that being said always check primary rollers after every ride and upper gear yearly like some have mentioned.

I've put 250-300 miles on my new 8JP and the squealing is gone. I'm thinking it was just worn out.
I'll be checking the top gear next fall when I service the sled. I will be running the chain to spec as well. I did my first service at 400 miles and set the chain to 1 turn from finger tight, thinking that it would stretch some more. I'm at 1,300 miles now and I haven't checked it since.

Is your clutch alignment according to hurricane tool?I run a tight/snug 825 with a not so tight chain and no gear issues and belt issue are a distant thing of the past but with that being said always check primary rollers after every ride and upper gear yearly like some have mentioned.

Never used it just brought it down to 58 with little to no float and it liked it.

I had my first one of the year yesterday! Xs825 ~~~4200km 17psi This belt has been over 120mph for MINIMUM 100 time.
It happened at ~~~120mph , wet snow front wind in front of a TIM horton. I had a coffee while cleaning this up..lol
Belt will be replaced under warranty for 15$
Typical 998T ride stats, 2 minutes before that belt snap whit back wind 195km\h
100% TRAIL BEAST
