I purchased a BV2S last year new in the box and it was the older model, it is the BEST helmet I have ever had hands down. I would not be concerned if you have the older version without the updates, especially if it costs $200.00 to update. I never fogged up, kept very warm and never had a problem with the mask or flipdown visor. I put on over 3,000 miles wearing that helmet in the U.P. in very extreme cold and it was incredible.

I've got the older helmut and used all last season and loved it (Iwear glasses). I'm going to update the breathing mask with six ribs this fall. The replacement mask is $49.00 on the ski-doo helmut access. sight. I don't know where the $200.00 comes from. Mine would fog just a little but all you had to do was crack the shiel ever so slightly. Great field of vision.

I had one and sold it....the ONLY thing I didn't like is the dripping down the front of my jacket and the freakin sponge things! I hated changing those things out.
The helmet was aweomse....super quiet and airtight which made it extremely warm.

What happens if you dont use those absorbant pads?
Also which vent disks do you use the most, the solid ones or the one with holes in it?

Well thats the problem....if I took mine out, it fogged like crazy. Keep in mind we were riding in -30C temps so that may have had something to do with it.

The flip down sunshield looks awesome, and I dont think there is anyway you can get the mouth piece to fit tighter then with that screw in pressure valve. It opens up nicely when on. To put it on its just like a normal helmet vs the easy on of a modular.
I got mine off Ebay for $279 plus $17 shipping which is the best deal I found, most auctions are going over 300 even used! This one was brand new but Silver and I think black is more desirable. Mine had a manf date of Sept 2005 LOL.
Overall it will be nice to ditch the cheap Zeus 508 helmet and electric shield this winter and hopefully the rear light will help avoid any collisons from behind. Last year we had a VERY close call, I still dont know how the 2 sleds flew threw everyone and not hit anybody just blinded by the snow dust in the morning.
I heard this morning La nina is coming 2 months eariler then last year which means COLD!! Woo hoo let it snow!
Kinger, did you purchase this from a dealer from MN. I bought one off of E-bay back in June, and it was the silver one also (much cheaper than the black.) I think the place I bought it from was centersports or something like that. Now I'm wondering if I have the six vents. I know mine came with the DVD and all. I guess I'll have to wait till I get up-north this weekend to double check.
Also where did you find the manufacture date on the helmet?

Gimme Snow - yep sauck center sports I think its called. Bob is the guy there. Real nice and easy to deal with. He told me that only the 03 and some 04 helmets had the 'pre-update' issues everything after that is fine. The date of manufacture is right on the liner in the back. It might be a sticker I will have to look again. If you just bought it your fine.
Good post thanks for pointing everything out guys!!

Thats the thing, if the updates are done you should be ok to seal it shut tight with out ever fogging......if your fogging your mouth peice is not sealed corectly

No absorbant pads=dripping droul down your jacket up here it freeze like fangs....I rarly use the pads......
if everything seals right, (dont over tighten the breather on your face) it will never fog.
If you over tighten the area with the 3 or 6 ribs will collaps, allowing your breaths to enter the inside of the mask.
intake air comes from inside the sheild, exhaust goes out the front.....if ya got leaks you got problems

Pads have nothing to do with fogging. all they do is absorb the moisture and keep it off your jacket.
Common mistakes with the helmet, is not evenly sealing and tightly shuting the sheild (do it inside seals better)
Not seating the breather on your face correctly...
and lastly not using the BRP balaclava. the balaclava CANNOT come in contact with the breather, if so it will NOT seal and youll have leaks and fog...
Trust me im in Norther Ontario and often ride in -30 -40 at high speeds and the helmet NEVER fogs if sealed correctly...

Yes the info on this subject is great. Sounds like the best helmet on the market, thats why I just had to try it! Everyone on this site has had nothing but good things to say about it. Can't wait to try it when the snow flies.
I do remember when I got mine, I must of worn it throughout the house hours on end. Really ticked the wife off, she told me to grow up, but your never to old to get excited about riding again.

This makes the most sense to me, as I didn't think the pads would do anything.
What vent disk do you run and do you change them out according to temp? I was thinking of just running the solid one and if I get hot opening the visor for 10 seconds. That way I'm covered if it gets COLD.

Not sure about the disk, I've always run the solid one but and the end of the year it fell out and I like it with no disk (was warm out) this year I'll try the 3 holer.
but and just test your seals around the house and seal the sheild shut super tight, if its not seals corectly it will fog
