Ya,now that looks rugged, why cant they leave well enough along. They all should have that on,or all the rr stuff,we we thought we were getting.
BTX is not a floating front arm, coupled suspension design. But yes, the LTX-LE's should have been the RR suspension that was advertised to come in the machine right from the onset.

OK Steve here are pics...... Put a clamp on one end, then the other.
Looks like both ends bent making it bowed. I did beat it pretty bad the last trip.
Interesting, I checked to see what is stronger....physics not my specialty.
"A hollow cylinder is stronger than a rod of equal mass and the same material." Some interesting reading.
I will not replace the bottom shock shaft to steel. I would rather have it bend or break rather then damaging the skid.

Travis, will you also be looking at the lower front skid shock lower mount,as well.I will likely be making my own rr shaft to include along with the tunnel reinforcment kit i have designed.

Oh I absolutely knew that Mike,i was juat agreeing with the mans, mountain sled skid, will support more pounding than ours will, considering we did not get what they advertised our LTX-LE should of been.BTX is not a floating front arm, coupled suspension design. Good catch! I agree the steel lower shock shaft is a potential wear point on skid. The actual big issue with the lower shock mount isn’t the shaft it’s that long through bolt. It bit me. I use a torq wrench and anal about cleaning and loctiting all skid bolts. Even paint mark them. That long bolt has lost torq by mid season. Paint marks still perfectly aligned so it stretched. This season when I pulled skid mid season I bought one of the Swedish steel shafts offered on internet with two bolts one each end. So far so good.OK Steve here are pics...... So the consensus is, just the RR shaft and the two bushings correct?
Can someone post ALL relative parts we need, with part #s please?
I guess im getting lazy, lol.

Not lazy Dan...just tired. Tired of having to fix all the things that should be fixed from the manufacturer. They may be small fixes but they add up and over time they become a real drain on your enthusiasm. Most all of the Winder issues are very fixable and we shouldn't have to fix them on our own. Things like the roll over valve , this cross shaft, the exposed hose in the tunnel the reverse gear the oil tank seal and many more items could have been addressed before the Winder was released last year.So the consensus is, just the RR shaft and the two bushings correct?

Then the issue many are having with belts. Yes Yamaha is addressing the belt issue this year but they don't even acknowledge the other things I mentioned.
I have been very lucky with mine and only had to deal with the oil tank seal. I think the fact that I kept mine stock and I don't ride as aggressive as others has a lot to do with it.

Hard to imagine you would keep your sled, from all the winder bashing going on over on DT. What is with that? Lots of guys I used to really like and think were good guys have nothing better to do then bash the winder over there. I guess since BRP now uses the term TURBO too, all the guys who ordered one feel the need to bring up the winder.
I used to love DT, but now it just looks like a bunch of guys with 'little man syndrome'. Its easy to bash a sled that has been out 2 seasons, while the new DOO has never seen snow yet. I hope it will be good but im sure it will have its teething issues too.
I think it was you Joe who sent me a very long PM about all the problems your 1200s had over the yrs, and said the winder was nowhere near as bad as the doo was. People jumping ship is all well and good, I have no issue doing it myself. But even with the issues the winder has, it will always be heads and tails superior to the little doo for real power. Most winder guys are here for that very reason.
I loved most of my doos, but when you can only make them go so fast and that is ALL, you cannot go any further with them. With the winder, you will never have to go to another model sled to get faster, you already have the most powerful sled built, so most guys would rather deal with issues and belts, then go back to 150hp. I have a hard time just turning mine down to 240 as it feels slow.
Id much rather be fixing my sled then back to the grind/reality of work....lol

Yep, just nice to know that in all, I bought the most powerful, and fastest stock sled on the market, with a 5 year warranty,Period.
So when I break or rack this one up, like I have done to so many before this one, or decide to move on to another sled,
Who knows what claims I will be looking for!
Now the claim belongs to the SRX. Long live the SRX..

After having a similar issue with my SR Viper LTX with the cross shaft bending and damaging the tunnel I ordered and installed the RR shaft and bushings from new on the sidewinder and all has been good. Highly recommend upgrading these parts!!

I honestly can't say a bad thing about my Winder. Guys on Dootalk don't believe me when I say my Winder handles better than any Doo I have ever owned and the rear is just as good as the Rmotion. My only gripe about our Winders are all these issues the result of poor Cat engineering.
My Winder never let me down on any of our trips. I can't say that about my wife's 1200.
I wouldn't blame Winder owners who have no intention of fixing these issues to move on down the road.
