Holy I am glad this subject got brought up. The K Helix has LESS room for the spring vs a stock Helix. Guess Lathe will be fired up tonight.
Stock=1.772-1.775
K Helix=1.756-1.760
So aftermarket K Helix is .016 less room for the spring. Who would have thought that! Pocket is wider though so that may help binding. Thanks for bringing this up 87GTNOS ! Or did you know this already?

They will be eventually because the corners of Helix will dig into the sliders. Its not a big deal. If you dont think they will then leave it be.I
Cannondale are you saying my slides are f---ed because I don't see it just don't see what you are seeing?? I have other pics before and after and there is no change! I run 8dn also ! I can't see what your issue is??? In my pics from stock and after 800kms they look the same!

I just went to check/inspect the slides and the is No sign of wear on the edges on the slides so I think your issue is isolated!They will be eventually because the corners of Helix will dig into the sliders. Its not a big deal. If you dont think they will then leave it be.

Think ya got that backwards. Just sayin
Nope, soft spring slips when you hit deeper snow or hit it hard. Stiffer springs resists quick changes. Those of us with COTC have one of the stiffest springs with additional shims and have no belt slippage.
Not a big deal for me as I said 3 times before I am geared so I will never have spring bind unless I go 135 mph. Just dont say you werent warned.if it's a big deal for you take a file and round the edges off!

Cannondale, for the spring seat depth, I'd be measuring from the inside of the 3 mounting pads down....know what I mean?
I did.
Are you able to see the pictures I posted? There are machined spacers from the pads to the straight edge.Cannondale, for the spring seat depth, I'd be measuring from the inside of the 3 mounting pads down....know what I mean?

Nailed it boys! 4.5's in the tip, 2.44's in the middle, 4 shims, worked excellent! Now able to hold er on the bar- 96 mph on questionable snow (loose) running 8900 rpm. Recall at 9150 (lost traction over a hump). Didn't like fresh snow though, logging roads with prob 3-4" of the loose white gold on top and she'd only pull 85-86 at around 85-8600. Happy with that if it works good in most conditions. Pulled like a tractor pretty much everywhere, was smiling excessively..... Going back up this weekend and will see what she's got up top. Shooting for a buck 02.

Always happy to see another happy person running COTC!
