crashed my 2017 LTX-LE sidewinder today

Sorry about the sled man. Here's to a speedy recovery! I've been lucky with sleds, definitely a dangerous hobby and I've had a few near misses in my days. Worst was locking skis with another sled on a corner, They cut the corner, and having the trailing arm ripped off the first ride with a new SX600R.

crashed my sideweinder last wendsday around 4pm,went aroundmy yard and houe twice nice in easy,we had about 3" of snow,it is cold and snow is setting up now,but back to crash,on final lap I had like 100 feet to blast it,but all I wanted to do was see if it would still launch sense I now have it back all stock, with the limitetr straps out some and transfer blocks on most transfer wehave,so it launched great, but throttle stuck WFO,man I thought the torrs would kick in,dont know why the throttle did not return, but sled is junk, and I have not put insurance on it yet, sucks for me,so I hit the tree at about 40 mph and it hit so hard,it spun the sled around and kicked the suspension all most out of the back of skid, and thru me 20 feet thru the air in to two trees,i am stove up preety good, and have been out of work for the past two days.

Sorry to here that. man, it would have been hard, but I would have baled off once I saw the tree coming at me.

Not being a smart #*$&@ or anything but why not have insurance on it before you load it to go home.

ummm....yea! Sounds like a Sherry Papini kind of deal to me.

Thank you to all who have responded with good wishes, its going to be a sore and painfull process,as will the recovery of the winder, yes I am going to rebuild it,out of my owne money,so it may not be in my cards to ride this year, who knows,i sure was looking forward to having a very fun year with it,and for now it made it safely to my dealers garage, and he did say some of the parts we could get off the viper, like the bulkhead, and maybe a arms, not sure if the spindle is in need or not,but my main concern is the shock, that is specific to the SW LE only, unless someone out there could repair it,it needs rod,and who knows what else, and of course the r. sidepanel and bottom which it snaps into.

Snowbeast I'm still wondering about the throttle sticking .I thought these didnt have cables to the throttle bodies ycct or something.

Could you bolt a set of Viper shocks on to get by while you waited on a replacement

I am not sure,it appears as though there is a cable to the throttle block, but beyond that I am uncertain, now my sled is back at the dealers, waiting parts,i just hope Yamaha dosent take all winter getting parts out.

Wishing you speedy recovery ! Glad to hear you that you didn't get hurt to bad .

I'm glad you are ok. I hope you contact Yamaha with the story so they can investigate. You may get a new sled but more importantly maybe there is a problem that needs to get fixed in other sleds? The next guy might not be as lucky as you. Best wishes to you and your family.

Call up a place that does shocks, they should be able to rebuild it.
