Kill switch, you think I had time to find that little toggle type kill switch they now have on them? Yes the switch worked than, and it still does now,and I did not fall off my sled so the teather cord would have worked, things happen so fast when you are only going 70-90 feet at night very fast,my sled is set up from grass dragging, with 192 studs and transfer block set for full kill,as soon as I snapped the throttle it dug in and stuck WFO and than I was on top of my closest tree.

These stop switches can't be just "smacked" or "hit" like old styles. They are more like "off" switches than "emergency" stop switches. It probably happened so fast & unexpectedly, that it was too late anyways...i noticed this when i brought mine home & the first thing i wondered was if there was an aftermarket switch i can put on. This was BEFORE the Beast had his issue...

Yamaha has tether cords kits , saw one at the dealer yesterday.

Tether cords are for AFTER you've fallen off. I would like a switch that i could "slap" without thinking of it. Emergency Stop Switches save our lives. Tethers save others lives'...

Parts list for SideWinder on Yamaha Canada hope this will help. ( SRS10MS62)

Guys just so you all know,i had the Yamaha viper teather cord attached to sled, sense my grandson has had to have a working teather in order to drive it in the races we had it in. So yes I could of just pulled the teather off,but than again when #*$&@ happens and you only have a micro second to do anything, well you can say whatever, bottom line is we don't always think like this when in a panic state.

I get it. It's not like at the end of a drag strip, you let off throttle realize it's stuck, then hit the stop switch with more runway to go. This was a finger flick, then into trees. FLICK BANG! We'll call it the "Snowbeast Flick Bang of '16''. I ride pretty hard in trails, but my most dangerous moments were in my yard messing around. When you goosed it & throttle stuck did your "boys" run & hide like a scared turtle...so now that you're alive...have the boys come out yet? P.S. Thank you for adding periods in your posts P.S. II Were not judging your riding skills, if anything it reminds us to be respectful of this animal...

No need to explain Beast. We get it. Been there, wrecked that. Easy to question or make judgement from the comfort of home. You were there. None of us were. Just glad you are ok.

What has Yamaha said about the stuck throttle? Were they able to figure anything out? Did they at least send an engineer to check it out? When all is said and done, I'm just happy to hear you'll be ok!

Tether should become part of your regular jacket clipped on all the time. Is only way I became accustomed to using it. Otherwise it is just hanging there all the time distracting you. That distraction is all it takes to crash or worse yet the cord can even get stuck in throttle if hung on bars!
