Explosions, socks & a gun!

I am 25 minutes away from there and going to stop in and see if they have one. On my way to NEK VT this morning for 4 days. FINALLY getting out.

Have good ride. Trails are beautiful right now. You will be going right by my place on your way up.

Dave at TAPP told me he likes the 8DN. But I dont see any reason a Ultimax would not be fine. I believe with stock secondary the 8DN is still too long for same top speed as a Ultimax.

What Dave told me is the 8DN works well for the 1200 guys, as its a hard belt. And the TAPP has massive clamping power for the hard belt.

Longer belts start in a lower ratio and end in a lower ratio. That is the reason the 8DN has lower top speed when not compensating properly. Gear up to get the speed back for it. Glenn Hall is converting the Cat guys over on the Team primary clutch to also run the 8DN I've been told. If you think about it, just putting a 8DN on a Team is like adding shim behind the spider to let the weights swing out further and bite the belt harder. Something the Team needs as it slips to bad down low as it is on the 1.5" belt.

The problem is, all these guys just swap the 8DN and 8JP out and change nothing but deflection to run them. You must adjust for the harder belt with heavier secondary springs and a bit more weight up front and leverage to grip it better compared to other belts, along with higher gearing to compensate for the lower ratio it runs from start to finish.

Just swapping out with no changes will show slower ET and speed, and setting deflection does not count for making clutching changes to run the 8DN belt. And changing the gearing to a higher gear is still only half the changes needed if you want to see gains.

I do like the prices on the 8DN, been seeing them for around $57 new on ebay.
