There is a huge diff between the old carlisle ultimax xs and the newer timken. I posted this last year with a picture. Physically the newer timken's are closer to an xtx with round cog bottom vs square on older and the top cogs are not as deep as they used to be. I believe them to be stronger too.

So they are pure Timken now. Is that what you are saying?

It appears that way unless a distributor has old stock.

My Carlisle XS825 snapped at 100 miles or so, lol..the warranty replacement "timken" XS825...so far, so good. Touch wood! There is a huge diff between the old carlisle ultimax xs and the newer timken. I believe they are similar in strength now to an xtx. Yes my old carlisle xs was only used for radar on my doo. As it wouldn't stand up to abuse.

Yeah I found this ironic, I saw this segment on STV too...
Very cool video on Timken.
So it sounds like Timken now owns the sled belt dept at Ultimax, and from the segment it sounds like Timken is giving them free reign to make the best belts ever better, with more moneys toward new tech and materials....Great to have caught this on STV.
I just happened to catch this all when my Ultimax from last season(carlisle) blew and I had a LONG wait over the summer, to see a box with huge TIMKEN on side of it, waiting on my porch this fall. So I did some searching and saw they were bought out.

Dan, Any different clutching with the xs825 vs the JP? Softer or harder? Thinking of switching over as I am approaching 1000 hard miles. No problems with the JP other than being messy!

Steve you get 200 on the carbon I will be shocked. I could snap them at will early on when I ran them. I know some like them. But to me they reminded me of a big rubberband. At least that’s how they felt. Lol. Weird.

The Gates didn't last at all for me either, but I was making more heat then, better results with the 8JP (still sucky) and am now trying the XS825 with a different secondary combo as well. I'll post up results after the Feb 1-4 weekend.Steve you get 200 on the carbon I will be shocked. I could snap them at will early on when I ran them. I know some like them. I got 500 miles on one last year when i was getting 900 miles on 8JP.
I was also testing & trying to fix a problem so i figure i'd give it a fair chance.
IF i have improved my clutch efficiency, then ALL my belts should do better.
Next week at this time i will have some real info with a same day 3 belt shootout.
