Sorry I posted this under the poll sticky as well, just looking for answers before I drive 140 miles to get it done. I called the dealer and a flash is showing up now. They knew nothing about the speedos reading incorrectly from this flash and knew nothing of a fix for it. The flash in his system was issued 12-21-16. Is this going to be the one with "the fix" or is it the first go round? Supposed to drive up there today.

Spoke to the dealer on the speed issue said they would contact Yamaha... So am I understanding this right that there is another flash since the November early December starter issue flash ?

Yup, mine was done in Nov. and my buddy at the dealer texted me today saying he found the info on the latest flash for the speedo today.
Riding out of Mitchell tomorrow , speedo can wait!

Is there a way to tell, without going back to the dealer, which version of the flash is installed? Had my 16 LTX DX ref lashed in December. Picked it up on Dec 21 which seems to be the date of the "corrected for speedo issue" flash.
Just check your speed with a gps or a car. If its off go back for latest. Is there a way to tell, without going back to the dealer, which version of the flash is installed? Called my dealer earlier today and asked about the Dec.21st flash. He said he would call Yamaha and check it out. Just got an email confirming there is an updated flash with all the latest and greatest as of Dec.21 and to bring my Viper in.
Thanks to all of you that did the leg work on this update.

Got the call yesterday to bring my sled in for the new flash. I didn't get a chance to do a pre flash run, but I've never had starter issues. I'll post what I notice when I get it back today or tomorrow.

I'm on the fence for the new flash. My '14 has never had hot or cold start or kickback issues. I have the 2015 reflash. Went to the dealer today for a reverse actuator failure, and he asked me if I wanted the Dec. 2016 flash? He said if I decline and then have a kickback/starter failure in the future, Yamaha Y.E.S. may not cover it. He did not know about speedo concerns and was not willing to find out. FLASH or NO FLASH?

Last flash was Dec. of 2014.
Sled has not left the shed, just run it every 2 to 3 weeks and change fuel yearly since that time.

I have been very happy with the flash update on my horrible starting 2014. Since the flash, no kickbacks and it started in temps down to -15. I have done it on both my 14 and 15. Strangely they seem to start more often on the first crank when colder than warmer temps but like most commenting here they now may take two cranks to get it fired up.

You should have good snow this year to get it out and about. Especially if you keep going south.
